**Role Summary**
Pfizer's Oncology Research Unit (ORU) in La Jolla, California, is seeking a Scientist (non-PhD) to join the Post-Candidate Research (PCR) group, focused on translating basic discoveries in the field of immune oncology (IO) into novel therapeutics.
As part of our team, the Scientist will advance our clinical and pre-clinical drug programs in the field of immune oncology, focused on large molecule (biologic) therapeutics. The candidate will provide scientific and technical support and work closely with their manager and team members to generate decision-enabling data for novel drug combination strategies and mechanisms of action. A successful candidate will demonstrate experience with primary immune cell assays and a strong background in assay development. They will use a variety of techniques including flow cytometry, soluble cytokine analysis, and tissue culture assays.
**Role Responsibilities**
+ Execute in vitro experiments including but not limited to compound dose curves, immune cell/cancer cell co-culture assays, and primary immune cell stimulation assays.
+ Perform multi-color flow cytometry staining of cells or tissues, operate flow cytometers, and analyze flow cytometry data.
+ Perform ELISA and MSD assays for cytokines and soluble biomarkers, graph results.
+ Sterile tissue culture of primary cells and maintenance of cell lines.
+ Highly detailed and diligent record keeping for all experiments, reagent stocks, and frozen reagent/cellular stocks.
+ Record experimental protocols/results in detail and may contribute to technical reports in support of regulatory filings
+ Communicate experimental findings accurately and concisely in both oral and written formats during weekly lab meetings.
+ Contribute to building a culture that embraces scientific excellence, urgency, partnerships with key stakeholders, continuous learning and improvement, and take a proactive role in personal growth and scientific development
**Qualifications**
**Must-Have**
+ Bachelor of Science degree in Immunology, Cell Biology, molecular biology or related discipline.
+ 6+ years relevant post-graduate industry experience or MS degree with 4+ years.
+ Experience in standard aseptic cell culture techniques.
+ Experience in immune cell isolation from a variety of tissues (blood, PBMCs, tissue) and characterization using multi-color flow cytometry.
+ Experience immune cell assays including activation, differentiation, proliferation, cytotoxic and/or suppression assays.
+ Attention to detail, in keeping up-to-date and thorough lab records for all lab reagents/assays/experiments.
**Nice-to-Have**
+ Experience with T cell or myeloid cell differentiation and functional assays.
+ Experience in writing technical study reports in support of regulatory filings.
+ Drug Discovery and Oncology experience.
+ Excellent organization skills and good verbal and written communication with ability to organize and prioritize work to meet timelines and deliverables.
+ Strong motivation with a dedicated work ethic with ability to multi-task and work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced, highly collaborative team environment.
Work Location Assignment: On Premise
The annual base salary for this position ranges from $74,900.00 to $124,800.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 7.5% of the base salary.
