Job Description:
Participates in the design of detail parts, assemblies, and installations for aircraft structures, mission equipment installations, and mechanical systems installations. Engineer applies basic engineering design and/or analytical theory with understanding of structural analysis for application to integrated system design. Engineer will be responsible for research, development of layouts, preparation of engineering drawings, and coordination of design activities with Tooling, Flight Sciences, Manufacturing, and Production to ensure that designs meet requirements at minimum cost. Designs will be accomplished using world-class, three-dimensional solid modeling CAD tools and work will be accomplished with senior-level design engineers. Mechanical design engineers have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of tasks and aircraft systems on various aircraft platforms.
Essential Functions:
Responsible for providing guidance, coaching and training to other employeesOversee the design of detail parts, assemblies, and installations for aircraft structures, mission equipment installations, and mechanical systems installations.Ensure proposals are vetted for accuracy in cost, scope, and scheduleEnsure programs are accomplished on schedule and within budget while complying with process/procedures and program requirementsProvides input into new products, processes, standards and/or operational plans that will have measurable impact on the achievement of overall function or business resultsEnsure program airworthiness, customer, and company requirements are understood and metCapable of influencing a wide range of audience, and having demonstrated leadership skills to win support without direct reporting structureBe able to walk to and from the flight line, work in aircraft hangar environment and board/exit aircraft is required. Bachelor degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering with twelve (12) years aircraft design related experience or Masters Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering with ten (10) years aircraft design related experienceFamiliarity with FAA (Part 23 and 25) and military aircraft airworthiness design approach, certification process, and requirementsKnowledge of manpower planning, milestone scheduling, and related financial managementFormulate strategic vision, define implementation plan of action to achieve successCapable of managing and working in an environment that is fast paced, demanding, with a focus on problem resolution and process improvementExperience running total lifecycle of programs including proposals, bids, planning, assessing/managing risk, and executionUnderstanding of aircraft systemsand various mission systemsPreferred Additional Skills:
