Key responsibilities for this role include:

Working in our world-class Research and Development Center, the incumbent will:

Develop quantitative analytical methods for drug products, APIs, and potential impurities using techniques such as HPLC-Mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS), GC-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS), Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) and other appropriate techniques.

Develop qualitative analytical methods for the analysis of drug products, APIs, and potential impurities using techniques such as HPLC-MS, GC-MS, Fourier Transform IR (FTIR) spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, powder X-ray diffraction, and other appropriate techniques. 

Characterize APIs, drug products, and potential impurities using analytical techniques such as FTIR spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, Powder x-ray diffraction, BET Surface Area analysis, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS).

Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis of materials by mass spectrometry and other techniques as required.

Author technical documents such as analytical methods and reports.

Apply sound scientific principles to perform laboratory research.

The minimum qualifications for this role are:

A degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related discipline is required.  A Bachelor’s degree and at least 10 years of experience, a Master’s degree and at least 5 years of experience, or a Doctorate and 0-3 years of experience is preferred.  However, a combination of experience and education will be taken into consideration.

Must possess knowledge of modern analytical techniques and instrumentation employed in the characterization of pharmaceutical products, APIs, and related materials (e.g. HPLC, mass spectrometry, structural characterization techniques, spectroscopy, etc.). 

Must possess excellent communication (oral and written), analytical and organizational skills. 

Must be able to multi-task and drive multiple projects and assigned responsibilities.

Must possess the ability to write comprehensive technical reports and communicate complex concepts to colleagues across functions.

Proficiency in speaking, comprehending, reading, and writing English is required.

A general understanding of FDA’s current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) regulations is preferred.
