We are seeking a passionate and skilled biochemist to join our Early Discovery team, focusing on identifying and characterizing herbicide targets at the molecular level.

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

You work as an enthusiastic researcher in a dynamic, scientifically exciting global network that spans agro and pharma, investigating novel targets for herbicide discovery using both in-vitro and in-vivo techniquesPart of your role is to be familiar with and to develop new computational technologies, such as comparative genomics, molecular modeling, or biomolecule structure prediction, to identify herbicide targetsYou utilize biochemistry techniques like protein expression and purification, enzyme kinetics, and develop biochemical assays to characterize herbicide targetsDesigning and executing experiments in the laboratory are part of your responsibilitiesYou analyze data and interpret results to identify effective herbicide target candidatesYou join an empowered team of biochemists and molecular biologists, working closely with experts from various scientific disciplines, including chemists, biologists, and data scientists, within a global R&D organizationDeveloping yourself and supporting the growth of your teammates through continuous learning and feedback is part of your roleYou prepare and present research findings to internal teams and at scientific conferences

 

WHO YOU ARE

 

You have an international scientific education in biology, biochemistry, or related areas at the PhD levelYou possess a deep understanding of plant physiology and molecular biology, including insights into genomics, proteomics, metabolomics, and systems biologyExperience in data science, including pre-processing, data quality assessment, biostatistical methods, and graphical representation, is part of your qualificationsYou are proficient in laboratory techniques such as protein expression, protein purification, and analytical chemistry, with experience in working with membrane proteins as an advantageAdvanced knowledge of R programming is beneficial, along with experience in working with (polyploid) plantsPart of your skill set includes a proactive approach to driving multidisciplinary projects and strong project management capabilitiesYou are eager to learn, skilled at problem-solving, and adept at structuring complex tasks. You bring a strong sense of accountability and can inspire and motivate colleagues while being bold and open to changeProficiency in business English is essential, and knowledge of German is appreciated
