Coordinate and Scientist (Biomedical) (Ref: 6059) execute formulation and stability studies within a development team, including internal and interdepartmental coordination of activities as well as collation and interpretation of study data by drawing on experience with Aseptic techniques; pH and conductivity measurement; SDS-PAGE; microscopy; UV-vis spectroscopy; flow cytometry; enzyme kinetics assay; characterization of protein samples; and formulation of protein and excipient. Execute studies for the development and evaluation of stable formulations for the vaccine candidates at VRC.  Analyze, collate, and interpret data in collaboration with team members. Develop, optimize, and execute assays for biological product characterization, formulation development, and stability testing of recombinant protein-based vaccines, proteinaceous nanoparticles, and virus-like particles. Write and review technical reports and protocols documenting formulation development, stability studies, and method development studies. Generate and analyze samples employing spectroscopic, calorimetric, and other instrumentation. Develop and optimize assays for vaccine and biotherapeutic characterization. Interpret analytical data with an understanding of protein/vaccine structure and stability concepts, and elements of the effects of solution components on stability. Provide technical guidance and training to formulation team members.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in biomedical engineering or a related field plus 3 years of experience reflecting demonstrable ability in the skill set described above. May work remotely 2 days per week within normal commuting distance of Gaithersburg, MD. 

 

Salary range: $82,300/year - $137,200/year
