The Thermo Fisher Scientific West Hills Production Team manufactures medical diagnostic kits that are used by customers in the Transplant Diagnostics market for HLA genotyping. The team is dynamic and fast paced, relying on collaboration, multitasking, and communication within the team. This is a manufacturing role in a lab setting in which staff wear lab coats plus PPE and use bench scale lab equipment. We are seeking individuals with strong learning skills and some training and/ or experience in laboratory or scientific environments. This position is for 1st shift hours that may be scheduled between 7 am and 6 pm.
Key Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities include the following but not restricted to:
Working in clean room laboratory environment with adherence to CGMP guidelines.Perform manufacturing/ production tasks as scheduled.Follow written SOPs, collect data, and document in batch records.Work with laboratory equipment including but not limited to: UV Spectrophotometer, Thermal Cycler, qPCR, robotic systems, centrifuges, multichannel pipettes.Initiate reports and perform investigations related to production nonconformances.Follow all safety requirements and bring up issues and concerns.May train and assist colleagues on production tasks and procedures.Additional duties may be assigned within proven skills and competencies.Minimum Requirements:
Education/ Experience: A combination of education and experience that confer the needed manufacturing, scientific, and laboratory technical skills will be considered. Examples:
Bachelor’s of Science degree in biology, chemistry or similar orTwo (2) years college course work in Biotechnology, Sciences, or other technical field and related laboratory or GMP manufacturing experience orHigh School Diploma/ GED and four (4) years of related laboratory experienceBasic Skills
Ability to read and write English and draft basic SOPs.Ability to perform basic math operations used in laboratory calculations.Above average understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.Work Shift/ Working Conditions
Ability to work overtime and nonstandard work schedules as required to meet production schedule.Ability to work in a laboratory operating bench scale equipment, low temperature freezers, and computer workstations. Work is performed under various levels of gowning including lab coats, safety glasses, gloves, masks, hairnetsAbility to lift up to 35 pounds.May handle sharps such as needles and biologic substances of human/ animal origin.Conditions and requirements may change as required
Compensation and Benefits
The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in California is $26.00–$35.00.This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
