The Oncology Discovery Research team is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Scientist I with expertise in CRISPR genome editing within the Oncology Assay Lab located in Lake County, IL. This is an excellent opportunity for a cell biologist/molecular biologist to make significant contributions to the advancement of oncology drug discovery programs within a dynamic and collaborative environment. The selected individual will play a crucial role in generating high-quality drug development candidates targeting promising therapeutic areas in oncology. An important responsibility will be to investigate, identify, develop, and optimize new methods and techniques. This role will be part of a team of supporting multiple Oncology Discovery programs and projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Leverage extensive experience in CRISPR genome editing, including the design, implementation, and optimization of CRISPR-based approaches for genomic modifications and functional screens.Develop and perform innovative methods and techniques to produce reliable, high-quality data efficiently.Integrate cutting-edge CRISPR technologies, including CRISPR ribonucleotide proteins and lentiviral delivery systems, into oncology research projects to drive forward target discovery and validation efforts.Analyze complex datasets to interpret results and derive meaningful conclusions, making logical recommendations for follow-up experiments.Participate actively in preclinical oncology target discovery and validation, utilizing advanced CRISPR methodologies to support novel cancer therapeutics development.

The candidate will be expected to rapidly learn the daily operations of the lab, readily adapt to changing needs and priorities, semi-independently plan and execute projects, and apply appropriate problem-solving skills. Excellent teamwork, communication skills and adherence to good laboratory conduct, documentation practices and safety guidelines are essential.


Qualifications

Basic:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education with typically 5 years of experience, or Master’s Degree or equivalent education with typically two years of experience.Experience with multiple CRISPR genome modification techniques.Significant experience with mammalian cell culture employing aseptic technique.Experience in small molecule drug discovery and/or in cancer biology in an industrial setting.Experience with high-throughput assay capabilities and automation such as liquid handlers & plate readers.Significant and demonstrated ability to interpret, document & communicate information and experimental outcomes effectively and transparently.Ability to plan and conduct experiments and prepare reports with minimal supervision.Ability to perform complex tasks in a timeline driven and goal-oriented team environment.

Preferred:

Experience with spectroscopic techniques (especially fluorescence).Experience with ECHO Liquid Dispenser or other automation.Experience with electronic laboratory notebooks and record keeping.Effective writer and communicator of research or other regulatory materials

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.
