Job Description

We are seeking a highly talented and motivated Scientist I to join our Molecular Screening and Characterization group. The MSC group focuses on assay development, optimization, and execution of in vitro biochemical and cell-based screens in collaboration with multiple therapeutic areas. The successful candidate will be responsible for executing robust in vitro screens, both biochemical and cell-based, and delivering high-quality data utilizing high-throughput mass spectrometry as well as common HTS tools. In this role, the Scientist will work closely with MSC and project team members to implement in vitro screening strategies as part of the overall project plan. The candidate should play an active role in communicating and collaborating with scientists to advance projects through day-to-day interactions, presentation of data, and interpretation of results. The Scientist must be capable of working independently while contributing and participating in a team environment and must have excellent oral and written communication skills.

ResponsibilitiesExecute robust in vitro biochemical and cell-based screens.Deliver high-quality data utilizing high-throughput mass spectrometry and common HTS tools.Implement in vitro screening strategies as part of the overall project plan.Communicate and collaborate with scientists to advance projects through presentation of data and interpretation of results.Work independently while contributing and participating in a team environment.Essential SkillsExperience with biochemical assay development.Working knowledge of mass spectrometry.Masters degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, or related field with 0-2 years of prior experience in a drug discovery laboratory setting.Bachelors degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, or related field with 3-5 years of prior experience in a drug discovery laboratory setting.Strong scientific foundation in understanding and implementing a wide range of biochemical and cell-based assays and readouts.Ability to think critically and creatively across multiple disciplines.Experience in assay development, optimization, and troubleshooting.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with LC-MS.Computational skills enabling automated data acquisition and analysis.Familiarity with related software applications such as MS Access and Spotfire.Experience in cell culture and cell-based assays.Familiarity with the use of automation and HTS instrumentation.Work Environment

The position is located onsite at LC/AP. The work environment involves collaboration with multiple therapeutic areas, utilizing high-throughput mass spectrometry and common HTS tools. The Scientist will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to meet the needs of various stakeholder groups.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
