Working as part of a cross functional team, you deliver the RDQ activities required to complete new product development, portfolio maintenance and/or productivity projects with an emphasis on meeting the desired consumer experience.

How you will contribute

With the support and guidance of a manager, you will organize and execute projects in line with RDQ, marketing and manufacturing requirements, effectively communicating status and risks. You will plan and conduct pilot plant and factory trials in accordance with good manufacturing practice and HACCP requirements and development activities (e.g. product shelf-life testing, designing for quality, consumer test preparation etc.). You will also write technical reports that will require the analysis and interpretation of results and that lead to conclusions and recommendations and create and maintain accurate consumer-led specifications.

More about this role

What you need to know about this position: This R&D position is in the Global Biscuit & Baked Snacks Product Platform team and will have responsibility for developing technologies related to Cakes & Pastries.

What extra ingredients you will bring:

Minimum 3 years experience working with proven track record on ingredient technology application and/or product development in the Food Industry.

Strong understanding of Food Science, Food Chemistry, or Food Engineering

Education / Certifications: Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food/Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or science-related field. 

Job Requirements:

This individual will have responsibility for leading technology development and application work across biscuit and baked snacks in support of the MDLZ Vision 2030 growth strategy. They will provide technical leadership - managing projects with high complexity with moderate guidance from his/her manager while collaborating with senior technical colleagues. Research will be specific to Cakes & Pastries recipe development, understanding the impact of functional ingredients on formula, plus other ingredient interactions and processing.  The product development activities will cover all phases including benchtop development and scale-up to pilot plant and industrial plant. The individual will work closely with cross-functional global and external partners.  As new technology, specifications and/or methodology are developed, this individual will be responsible for supporting implementation globally. 

This role requires the candidate to:

Drive technical programs with proper scientific rigor, conduct appropriate testing, gather & analyze data, and develop recommendations based on findings. 

Build and incorporate consumer learning into the technology development process to inform technical and project decisions.

Lead, partner, and align with global cross-functional partners in Product & Process Development, Quality, Analytical, Research, Consumer Science and other functions to drive solutions. 

Manage relationship with suppliers and leverage their capabilities to advance projects.

Effectively present recommendations to drive influence and gain support from Sr. Management on direction and path forward.

Be able to parallel path several technical solutions and implement/integrate best alternatives to meet project goals.  Demonstrate ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects. 

Have solid communication skills, both written & verbal, across region and cultures. 

Basic knowledge around understanding and calculating financial impact of any new technologies.

Travel requirements: Flexibility to travel domestic and/or globally depending on project requirements; up to 25%

Work schedule: This position is based in East Hanover, NJ, with a hybrid work model offering a mix of onsite and    remote flexibility.

Salary and benefits:

The base salary range for this position is $73,900 - $101,650; the exact salary depends on several factors such as experience, skills, education, and budget. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for participation in a highly competitive bonus program with possibility for overachievement based on performance and company results.
