Job Description

The candidate for this Scientist II, Bioanalysis position will be working in the Regulated Bioanalysis Group, which is responsible for determining drug concentrations of clinical and non-clinical samples using LC/MS/MS.  In order to support these analyses, specific methods need to be developed and validated according to the GLPs and regulatory guidance’s.  The primary responsibility will be for developing and validating methods for small and large molecule analysis. 

The individual will be expected to have extensive experience in developing and validating LCMS based methods in a regulated environment. In addition, the individual will have opportunities to contribute to broader areas within DMPK as their experience and expertise warrants.

Key responsibilities include:

Developing and validating bioanalytical methods for large and small molecules on LCMS platformsMaintain awareness of evolving trends in separations and mass spectrometryUse and manage biohazardous matrices (e.g., plasma, serum, urine, blood, tissue, etc.)Author method and study related documents for regulated analysisAuthor scientific papers for publicationMaintain and troubleshoot complex LC systems and ultra-sensitive mass spectrometersMaintains expertise in cutting-edge assay technologies and continuously develops excellent assay troubleshooting skills
Qualifications
BS, or MS in Analytical Chemistry or related field and typically 5-8 (BS), 3-5 (MS) years of experience in a pharmaceutical or CRO setting.Experience with Hamilton Starlet automated liquid handling instruments is a plus.Experience with operating Shimadzu Liquid Chromatography instruments.Experience with operating API5500, and API6500 Applied Biosystems Mass Spectrometers.Experience with electronic laboratory notebook software, WATSON Laboratory Information Management Software (LIMS), and Applied Biosystems Analyst Software.Familiarity with regulatory guidelines for bioanalysis and experience working in a regulated environment.Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently with minimal supervision in managing multiple projects and priorities and work well within a team, and a desire to learn specific techniques for bioanalysis.

This is an on-site position at AbbVie's North Chicago campus. ​Level and compensation will be commensurate with experience.The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.
