Our medical devices help more than 10,000 people have healthier hearts, improve quality of life for thousands of people living with chronic pain and movement disorders, and liberate more than 500,000 people with diabetes from routine fingersticks. The Scientist I will work within a team focused on the chemical characterization of medical devices in a highly regulated environment. The position will report to a chemistry supervisor or manager. The position is a hands-on and laboratory focused, entailing all aspects of sample preparation **What You’ll Work On** + Sample handling and logistics + Sample preparation/extraction (Solid/Liquid; Liquid/Liquid) for downstream extractable/leachable analysis + Samples preparation to determine solvent / device material compatibility + Operation of analytical balance, incubator/shaker, ovens, pH meters, and microscopes + Analysis with oversight may include GC/MS, LC/MS, ICP-MS, and FTIR + Execution and documentation of work adhering to good documentation practices (GDP), good laboratory practices (GLP), and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) + Document, analyze, report, and review data in electronic lab notebook system + Adhere to all lab safety requirements **Minimum Qualifications** + BA or BS in chemistry + Minimum of 0-2 years of experience performing extractions for chromatographic analysis + Ability to perform standard mathematic/statistical calculations in Microsoft Excel + Strong verbal and written communication skills + Attention to detail + Ability to communicate effectively with chemistry team and management + Knowledge of GDP, GLP, and GMP + Ability to follow direction and be effective with supervision + Knowledge and application of Microsoft suite of applications **Preferred Qualifications** + Previous experience with sample extractions Apply Now (https://www.jobs.abbott/us/en) * Participants who complete a short wellness assessment qualify for FREE coverage in our HIP PPO medical plan.
