We are seeking a driven, energetic, results-oriented Scientist III or IV to join the Biomarker Discovery group of the Immunology and Respiratory Research Therapeutic Area in Ridgefield CT. This individual will develop in vitro TE/PD and disease biomarker assays to support the Immunology and Respiratory Department portfolio projects and use innovative technologies to discover biomarkers to advance our novel research programs. This position requires hands-on experience on TE/PD and disease biomarker assay development in drug discovery, primary animal/human cell culture systems, ligand-binding assays, attentional to experimental detail, teamwork as well as strong communication and organizational skills. Flow cytometry experience is preferred.
Duties & Responsibilities As a technology expert, develops and implement experimental approaches that contribute to the Biomarker Discovery group goals in an independent and efficient manner, with minimal supervisionDesigns, executes and troubleshoots routine and innovative TE/PD (including direct and indirect TE) and disease biomarker assays using animal/human matrices, analyzes experimental data, interprets outcome of experiments and proposes appropriate follow-up experimental plansInteracts regularly with colleagues in the Biomarker group and other organization functions to move new therapeutic concepts through their lifecycleKeeps abreast with literature and extracts relevant information from published protocols Present own work at internal and external meetingsProposes and contributes to the incorporation of new technologies and/or assume departmental responsibility for technical aspects of portfolio projectsTrains junior scientists in all areas of laboratory operations, productively contributes in a matrix organization and shares ideas across the departmentCo-authors peer-reviewed manuscriptsAdapts best strategies internally and externally, complies with applicable regulations, performing all work in a safe manner and maintains proper records in accordance with SOPs and policiesRequirements Strong hands-on experience with development of TE/PD and disease biomarker assays in Drug Development, including direct and indirect TE assays and receptor/target occupancy assaysExperience with immunoassays Experience using a variety of standard laboratory techniques such as mammalian cell tissue culture, various ligand-binding assay formats (i.e ELISA), peripheral blood cell cell isolation and culture, DNA/RNA extraction, RT-qPCR, western blot.Ability to learn new technology and conceptsProficiency in Microsoft Office, experience with Flow cytometry data analysis tools (i.e FlowJo) and GraphPrism softwaresGood verbal and written communication skills.Independent thinker, planner, and executor of technical activities.Strong analytical skills to effectively present test data and other related findings.
Scientist III:
Master´s Degree with 3+ years experience in related scientific discipline or Bachelor´s Degree with 7+ years experience in related scientific discipline or equivalent experience in related field
Scientist IV:
Master´s Degree with 6+ years experience in a related scientific discipline or Bachelor´s Degree with 10+ years experience in a related field or equivalent experience in a related field
Compensation:
This position, Scientist II, offers a base salary typically between $75,000.00 and $147,000.00. The position may be eligible for a role specific variable or performance based bonus and or other compensation elements. For an overview of our benefits please click here.
