We are seeking a Scientist with expertise in Cryo-Electron Microscopy (CryoEM) and Cryo-Electron Tomography (CryoET) for our CryoEM Center. The Ideal Candidate: Proficient in vitrification of biological samples using Vitrobot IV, or Leica GP2 plunger. A minimum three years of independent experience operating Arctica, Glacios, or Titan Krios electron microscopes. Skilled in single-particle analysis (SPA) or tilt series data collection using software such as EPU, TOMO5, and SerialEM. Strong command in SPA and tilt series image processing including model building. Experience in cryoEM facility setup is highly desirable. Job Responsibilities: Provide support to users with daily operations of instruments such as Talos L120C, Arctica and Krios microscopes. Perform vitrification and prepare specialized grids such as graphene oxide grids, streptavidin-coated grids. Coordinate with engineers for repair and maintenance of microscopes and related equipment. Develop user-friendly data processing workflows for SPA and subtomogram averaging. Perform additional duties as needed, such as micropatterning, cryo-correlative and light microscopy, and FIB-milling. Offer hands-on training for users on instrument operation and sample preparation techniques. Stay current with advances in cryoEM and present findings in journal clubs and departmental seminars. Participate in curriculum development and contribute to teaching in cryoEM workshops. Minimum Education and/or Training: Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific area is required. PhD preferred. Minimum Experience: Eight (8) years relevant post-degree work experience is required with a Bachelor’s degree. Six (6) years of relevant post-degree work experience is required with a Master's degree. Three (3) years of relevant post-degree work experience is required with a PhD. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $86,320 - $154,960 per year for the role of Scientist in Cryo-Electron Microscopy and Cryo-Electron Tomography – Cryo-Electron Microscopy Center.
