What You'll Do:
As a member of our Analytical & Physical Science (APS) team, you will collaborate with a diverse group of passionate individuals to help Lubrizol deliver sustainable solutions to advance mobility, improve wellbeing and enhance modern life. This role will primarily support polymer rheology but will also include support for thermal analysis and colloid science. Responsibilities will include support for long-term research, innovation, and problem-solving projects as well as urgent manufacturing and quality issues. This role will initially focus on sample preparation and instrument operation. As you gain experience the role will expand to include data analysis and reporting, test development, and troubleshooting. Prior experience with rheology in an industrial setting would be a benefit, as would experience with thermal analysis and/or colloid science. As a member of APS, you will be expected to learn from and collaborate with experts in the many disciplines within our organization. These include Colloid Science, Engineering, Microscopy, Physical Testing, Rheology, Thermal Analysis, Tribology (“Physical”), & Chromatography, ICP, Mass Spec, NMR, Optical Spectroscopy, Wet Chemistry (“Analytical”). This position will be based at our Wickliffe, OH site but will be expected to travel to our Brecksville, OH site as often as necessary (up to 100% of the time).
What We're Looking For:
Support polymer rheology research and materials testing by preparing samples, taking measurements, performing experiments, and developing procedures. Support thermal analysis and colloid science research as needed. Learn to analyze experimental data and report results independently. Manage and maintain existing instrumentation, and propose upgrades when appropriate, to meet the needs of both new and existing products and applications. Execute all work with an attention to detail. Generate, organize, interpret, and report data to support technical projects. Communicate and interact with a broad range of internal requestors through technical reports, presentations, and conversations. Actively participate in Lubrizol safety programs and maintain a safe working environment.
Skills That Make a Difference:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Engineering, or a related field. Experience writing technical reports and presenting to technical audiences. Willingness to work at Lubrizol’s Brecksville, OH site. (up to 100% of the time) Willingness to travel outside of Northeast Ohio. (less than 10%) Excellent skills in Microsoft Office
Considered a Plus:
Experience with rheology in an industrial setting. Experience with thermal analysis and/or colloid science in an industrial setting. Experience developing standard operating procedures (SOP) and/or job safety analyses (JSA).
