From SCM, Siemens is looking to recruit an experienced Regional Commodity Manager for Cabinets and Transformers.

The Regional Commodity Manager (RCM) will report to the Head of Supply Chain for Pooling Categories India. The Ideal candidate will be able to function and lead in a team environment, must be a self-starter and have the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment as well as operate independently.

Introduction Mission of Function

Ensuring strategic procurement for Cabinets and Transformers, in which case the potential for bundling all sites/projects of the Region (India) is exploited to achieve the best conditions based on delivery excellence. Responsible for the development and implementation of the commodity strategies across the business units in the region. Accountable for material cost, long-term assurance of supply, supplier performance, and support of supplier selection requirements as well as supply management related information and data management for the assigned commodity. The RCM will support the GVS (Global Value Sourcing) program within the Region and Global projects.

What are job responsibilities?

·       Organize and execute regional bundling of demands of the different Divisions/sites and projects for optimum utilization of procurement power.

·       By delegation of the PuC (Purchasing Council) team, define and implement the Regional commodity strategy, supply and bundling Strategies in order to achieve the maximum profit contribution to the Divisions' targets.

·       By delegation of the PuC team, implement global sourcing projects as required by the global commodity managers. Interface of the PuC in the Region. RCM supports PuC/CCM for local implementation of PuC Strategies & Provide Regional demands / forecast to PuC

·      Analyze demand, markets, and suppliers to create a basis for deciding on the optimum sourcing strategy. Ensure that supply market research data is available to support business decisions during product/service development and industrialization phases across the various Business Units. Create and Implement procurement strategies based on conducted demand, market, and supplier analysis to ensure long-term, cost-efficient, and reliable on-time supply of materials of the required quality.

·       For the scope of the region, implement and lead a cross-location competence network within the OpCo/StratCo buyers organizations to define and implement Pan India commodity strategies, share competence and best practices, and drive common improvement programs for the assigned commodities; Management of regional specific Suppliers and global Suppliers

Work with Cross Function Business Partners from BU’s, Project Teams to understand Commodity requirements then finding qualified suppliers and sourcing of these Commodities / Raw Material with best Total Cost supplier

·       Conduct negotiations to acquire the best value with the support of PuC Manager & Global Commodity Manager from inter-connected Business Units


·       Monitor global markets to build a basis for deciding the optimum sourcing strategy and cooperate with the top suppliers

·       Implement and ensure the usage of globally defined methods, processes, and systems to ensure high process efficiency and process compliance

·       Generate, document, and implement savings while monitoring and reporting on relevant metrics to contribute to the success of the business

·       By delegation of the PuC Chairman, conduct global / regional price and contract negotiations with contract conclusion to guarantee security of supplies at the best Total Cost of Ownership and in line with the general CSCM guidelines.

Systematically forward all relevant procurement-related project information (updated contractual conditions, supplier management data) to advise all project participants of any changes

·       Undertake supplier management (jointly with partner functions, e.g. Quality, logistics, etc.) in order to recruit and develop the best suppliers towards achieving an optimum supply chain through supplier relationship, supplier negotiations and supplier management programs.

·       Supports Purchasing Council with regional input on new technology roadmaps for the assigned commodity that contribute to the development efforts of the Business Units.

·       Define and implement concepts for risk and contract management to avoid risk and warranty costs.

·       Establish / Maintain supplier relationships and support Supplier Management processes (qualification, selection, evaluation, development, classification) and update evaluation systems to document, acquire, and develop top suppliers and ensure transparency and high procurement quality

·       Give support with reporting and data analytics (procurement volume, cost savings, actual vs. forecast) and data maintenance (R4B, ESN codes, monopoly codes)

·       Drive & Support regional Sustainability initiatives and CO2 optimization programme.

Knowledge - Technical understanding of Cabinet/ Transformer specifications and applications. Arrive at should costing as per standards, Excellent Negotiation Skills, Analytical abilities

Excellent collaboration & Conflict Management Skills . Contract - / Law knowledge - Strategic Thinking - Quality Management methods- Excellent IT tool application and project management ability- Excellent communication skills

What is needed to qualify for this job? Experience:

·       At least 5 years experience in procurement/sourcing in India preferable with a mid to large size international company in the metal mechanical parts area, preferable working for Cabinets , Trafo

·       At least 5 years experience in the technical procurement process and three years in the commercial procurement process

·       At least 3 years experience as a Commodity Manager for a similar business field, being used to work in a matrix organization

·       At least 8 years experience working within an international environment coming from different cultures and countries


Education - Bachelor or above

Master in SCM / Procurement will be an added advantage
