Scrap Team Leader

Position Summary:

The Materials Scrap Team leader is responsible for coordinating activities throughout the plant to service all sources of scrap including but not limited to receiving, warehousing, production, fabrication, shipping, and inventory control. They are responsible for leading and coaching MDI as well as creating, maintaining and helping ensure standard work is followed by team members. They will be responsible for tracking and leading corrective events to ensure scrap compliance is followed as well as reducing the variance around scrap.

Position Responsibilities:

·       Ensure safety of employee’s and adherence to EHS requirements

·       Lead MDI and other related materials activities and meetings

·       Leading and training employees, providing feedback and coaching

·       Manage timecards of multi-shift team members

·       Book and communicate trailer swaps and live loads

·       Ensure all scrap going into dumpsters is weighed and tracked

·       Coordinate yard activities including scrap removal, yard organization and cleanliness

·       Ensure all transactions and logs are executed correctly and in a timely manor

·       Ensure all necessary documents are maintained and filed in accordance with compliance and retention polices

·       Lead Scrap Reduction A3 and Scrap Variance A3

 Key Competencies and Success Factors:

·       Ability to influence, coach and lead others both directly and indirectly

·       Computer: High level proficiency in Microsoft Office such as Excel, and Outlook. Capable of learning and utilizing multiple systems and databases.

·       Communication: Strong oral communication and ability to communicate with both internal and external parties involved in scrap, trash, recycling and storage.

·       Ability to perform jobs of employees under their supervision

·       Knowledge and application of the Lean Principles

·       Can work with little supervision
