RESPONSIBILITY: Set up and operate one or more, typically two, six spindle screw machines. Be aware that any downtime is expensive and should be minimized, as it is not only the cost of the idle machine, but the cost of the lost production as well. JOB DUTIES: + Committed to ensuring the achievement of continuous improvement within area of expertise, as well as areas of business in order to remain at the forefront of meeting Company objectives, thus proactively satisfying customers. + This position mandates that all required safety classes, trainings, and certifications be completed and maintained within the specific position/department. + Is aware of relevance and importance of their activities and how they contribute to the achievement of the quality objectives. + This position requires an employee to work their regularly scheduled shift; ability to work overtime and weekends. + Must be aware and comply with related ISO/IATF procedures, as applicable. + This position requires employees to possess the necessary hand tools to perform their job correctly. + Bench sets collets, feed tubes, feed fingers, drills, and cross side tools. + Changes collets, bushings, and feed fingers in stock feeding mechanism. + Changes gears, stops, and cams (if necessary). + Inspects tools and compares to tool layout verifying all tools and tool holders using various gauges. + Aim for 20 hours’ maximum on set-ups and discuss with Lead or technical advisor how to avoid for future set-ups. + Adjusts tools to bring parts into conformance with print, submits first piece for inspection and starts machine. + Replaces worn tools and sharpens cut off blades. + Loads bar stock into bar feed mechanism. + If changes to tooling or set-up are needed, obtain approval from Lead or layout person and keep a written record of the changes made and why. + Performs routine maintenance checks (lube level, cutting oil level, etc.). + Notifies Lead if tooling is getting low. + Wipe down machines and clean floors as directed by Lead. + Keep machines and area clean and orderly. + Empty chip buckets and spin chips as directed by Lead (this may include more than two machines). + Weigh parts accurately. + Notify Lead or technical advisor if job is not producing. + Fill out time slip completely and accurately. + Perform parts inspections in accordance with Quality Procedure LDM-3. + This job description in no way states or even implies that these are the only duties to be performed by this employee. Requirements: + Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and orally. + High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred. + Three (3) years prior screw machine experience. + Strong mechanical aptitude. + Strong math aptitude. + Prior lathe experience.
