Job Summary
The primary goal is to increase the efficiency and the productivity of the physician team. Work closely with physician and/or physician assistant or nurse practitioner to perform administrative tasks such as EMR documentation, chart preparation, schedule efficiency, and identify overall best practices for process improvement. Role requires anticipation of physician needs, discretion, tactfulness, and modest in performance of duties so as not to distract medical staff from patient care. Good judgment, organizational ability, initiative, attention to detail, and the ability to be self-motivated are critical to the success of the position.
Duties and Responsibilities
+ Accurately and thoroughly document medical visits and procedures as they are being performed by the physician, including but not limited to:
+ Patient medical history and physical exam.
+ Procedures and treatments performed by healthcare professionals, including nurses and physician assistants.
+ Patient education and explanations of risks and benefits.
+ Physician-dictated diagnoses, prescriptions and instructions for patient or family members for self-care and follow-up.
+ Prepare referral letters as directed by the physician
+ Ensure documentation must be accurate, complete, and consistent with legal, ethical, and practice protocols and standards.
+ Work closely with physician assistant and may be required to providing scribing support as needed.
+ Work closely with multiple departments/parties to coordinate schedule availability to ensure balance of office and surgery time scheduled.
+ Handle additional duties as required.
+ Miscellaneous administrative tasks may include preparing referral letters, mailing/faxing/scanning confidential documents regarding a patients care and with all pertinent reports or tests attached as well as research a variety of information as needed for referring physicians, referrals, preparation of operative reports, make phone calls, and other clerical tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
Requirements and Qualifications
+ Minimum 2 years scribing or medical office experience preferred.
+ Medent / EMR experience preferred.
+ HS Diploma required.
Physical Demands
+ Position requires manual and finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
+ Involves standing and walking.
+ Team member will occasionally be asked to lift and carry items weighing up to 30 pounds. Normal visual acuity and hearing are required.

Excelsior Orthopaedics is a multi-specialty orthopedic practice that has been providing comprehensive care since 2002. We have multiple locations throughout the Western New York region and a free-standing ambulatory surgery center, Buffalo Surgery Center. Excelsior Orthopaedics offers a suite of in-house services including general orthopaedic evaluation and treatment, podiatry, physical & occupational therapy, nutrition counseling, sports training, outreach athletic training, orthopaedic express care, imaging, durable medical equipment, and an outpatient total joint program. The pay range for this position is determined based on several factors, including the candidate’s years of experience, qualifications, training, licenses, designations, and the overall market conditions.
