Scribe Supervisor

Summary
The Scribe Supervisor is responsible for supervising the Scribe Team Leads and an EMR Training Specialist; this includes overseeing performance, managing the scribe schedule, and serve as a central point of contact between the Scribe Team Leads and the Clinical Operations Manager. Additionally, this position is not only accountable for the productivity of the entire scribe team but also ensures that quality standards are met and audits are regularly performed.
Duties and Responsibilities

+ Work closely with the Clinical Operations Manager to:
+ Assess physician preferences to ensure scribe support is appropriate, effective, and achieved
+ Assess Express scribe needs and work closely with providers to ensure expectations are understood and met
+ Write a significant portion of the pod schedule to ensure appropriate coverage for scribing as well as clinical support (check-out desk) in all pods
+ Review and adjust scribe schedules to align with clinic needs as well as all scribing needs
+ Manage remote scribing services
+ Work closely with Scribe Team Leads to:
+ Implement best practices throughout the scribe team
+ Monitor workflows and allocate resources appropriately
+ Perform quality assurance audits and review results with leads to identify trends of successes and opportunities
+ Manage performance of scribe teams and provide coaching and mentoring for improved performance
+ Review annual performance reviews
+ Work closely with the EMR Training Specialist to ensure:
+ Robust onboarding programs are in place
+ Training plans are in place with defined competencies and metrics that support clear performance expectations
+ Identify and implement opportunities for improvement in existing training program
+ Expand training program for the Clinical Support Specialist role
+ Identify cross-training opportunities to deepen the knowledge base of individual scribes as well as versatility of the team
+ Work closely with HR to
+ Interview and select scribe candidates to join our team
+ Identify and build career paths
+ Utilize reporting tools in Medent to review quality, productivity, and HIPAA compliance
+ Analyze data to effect outcomes and standardize best practices
+ Perform quality assurance audits and produce reports that are accurate, timely, and communicate broadly to the appropriate parties to effect change
+ Communicate regularly and collaboratively with other department leaders to ensure smooth workflows and quality results
+ Occasionally perform scribe duties in an effort to strengthen relationships and keep skills current
+ Perform other duties as needed
Job Qualifications
+ Associate Degree in health- or technology-related field preferred or 3+ years working in a medical office setting required
+ 2+ years experience working as a scribe required
+ Leading people experience required
+ Proficient working in an EMR required, preferably Medent
+ Proficient working in Microsoft Suite including Word, Excel, and Teams required
+ Local travel to different offices required
Physical Demands
+ Manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination to enter data and operate office equipment
+ Corrected vision and hearing within normal range to communicate with patients, providers, and staff
+ Frequently to constantly standing required while operating a laptop
+ Occasionally to frequently sitting on days when not scribing
+ Occasional lifting and carrying items weighing up to 10 pounds

Excelsior Orthopaedics is a multi-specialty orthopedic practice that has been providing comprehensive care since 2002. We have multiple locations throughout the Western New York region and a free-standing ambulatory surgery center, Buffalo Surgery Center. Excelsior Orthopaedics offers a suite of in-house services including general orthopaedic evaluation and treatment, podiatry, physical & occupational therapy, nutrition counseling, sports training, outreach athletic training, orthopaedic express care, imaging, durable medical equipment, and an outpatient total joint program. The pay range for this position is determined based on several factors, including the candidate’s years of experience, qualifications, training, licenses, designations, and the overall market conditions.
