**It's more than a career, it's a calling.** MO-SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital - Lake Saint Louis **Worker Type:** Regular **Job Summary:** Provides appropriate patient care and performs clerical duties. **Job Responsibilities and Requirements:** PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES + Enhances the overall patient care experience by responding to patient requests and obtaining needed services from other hospital personnel. + Creates a positive environment for visitors by greeting them properly in person or on the phone, giving directions or referring inquiries to nursing and physician staff. + Contributes to the overall financial performance of the department through efficient unit operations by following policies and procedures, reporting needed changes and maintaining unit supplies. + Maintains a safe and clean environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations and adhering to infection control policies and procedures as measured by the number of sentinel events or medical errors. + Contributes to the overall employee satisfaction of the department by actively participating in staff meetings and offering assistance to others when needed. + Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner. + Performs other duties as assigned. EDUCATION + High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience EXPERIENCE + One year experience in direct patient care or scrub tech PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS + Constant standing and walking. + Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. + Frequent use of hearing to distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc. + Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs. + Frequent reaching, gripping, and keyboard use/data entry. + Frequent use of vision for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors. + Occasional bending, stooping, crawling, kneeling, sitting, squatting and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements. + Occasional use of vision to judge distances and spatial relationships. + Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs. + Occasional lifting/moving patients. + Occasional use of smell to detect/recognize odors. + Occasional driving.
