Scrum Master


 

Leidos is hiring an energetic, motivated, innovative individual to be a part of our team supporting Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) in Baltimore, MD. The Scrum Master works closely with the Program team, CMS Partners, and CMS Stakeholders to manage, maintain, and optimize project and service delivery to best support CMS and the general public. The Scrum Master will deliver solutions that ultimately ensure that the functions of Medicare, Medicaid, and Marketplace are carried out for the US citizen and contribute to efforts to reduce healthcare costs.

Key Responsibilities:

Agile Ceremony Facilitation –

Facilitate daily stand-ups, sprint planning, refinement, sprint review, retrospectives, and other related team and intra-team meetingsParticipate in sprint demonstrations and scrum of scrumsMaintain and generate information radars for the teamsCollect and share team metrics with the team, suggest new metrics, and drive improvement using metrics

Planning –

Ensuring that goals, scope, and product domain are understood by everyone on the teamEnsuring that the technical team has a clear understanding of Definition of DoneDrive stories to Ready state in preparation for the next quarter and upcoming sprintPrepare for sprint planning with the product owner and the teamWork with the team and Product Owner/Manager to maintain a healthy backlog and plan upcoming releases and assist with drafting acceptance criteria

Team Support –

Foster team collaboration and timely communicationEncourage team to be proactive during all phases of the sprint.Work with the team to adapt to changes that yield better resultsEncourage an experimental and fail-fast mindsetRemove impediments to the team’s ability to perform by working closely with the team and stakeholders, including product owners, management, other teams, and the support organizationWorks with team to create and update team working agreement, the definition of ready, and definition of doneCommunicate the status of progress and impediments to internal and external stakeholdersFacilitate cross-team coordination, tracking and following up with external dependenciesAct as a buffer between external distractions and the team helping the team to keep focus.Protect the team and minimize disruptions.Coordinate with the configuration management analyst on environment setups & maintenance, code deployments, and production releasesBuilds high-performing teams by helping the team manage interpersonal conflicts, challenges, and opportunities for growth.Build trust among team members.Encourages brain-storming and creative thinking. Encourages the team to be confident and courageous, thinking outside the boxCapture agile metrics as required

Advice and Guidance –

Coaches the team on agile and scrum principles with a goal of continuous improvement.Able to observe team dynamics, recognize strengths and weaknesses of individual team member's contributions, and coach them to improve.Create a fun sharing and learning environment, experimenting with various ideas to improve delivery including pair-programming and cross-functional trainingPromote teamwork to achieve sprint goalsLead the teams towards agile maturityAbility to thrive in a fast paced environment, across diverse systems and groups.

Requirements:

BS and 5+ years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 3+ years of prior relevant experience.

Experience applying scrum and growing teams as a fulltime Scrum Master for 5 years or more. BS Degree or additional years of experience in lieu of degree.Experience-affecting change in organizations working towards agile adoptionCertified Scrum Master (CSM) or similar agile project management certification (PMI-ACP)Experience using agile project management tools, preferably JIRA and ConfluenceExcellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skillsManages time extremely well, can quickly sense when an issue needs to be discussed or triagedStrong attention to detail and focus on task completion is critical

Preferred:

Technology experience software developmentExperience working in with multi-disciplinary development teamsRelevant understanding of CMMI Level 4 ConceptsSAFe experience is a plusExperience as a Scrum Master at an organization that is committed to using agile as a core methodology to deliver business valueExperience in any part of the software development lifecycle is a plus - as the developer, tester, analyst, product manager, project/program manager, etc.Experience with applying test automation, test-driven development, continuous integration, and continuous deployment to achieve built-in quality by the teams

Ability to obtain a public trust clearance

All candidates supporting the CMS programs must have lived in the United States at least three (3) out of the last five (5) years prior in order to be considered.

Pay Range:Pay Range $72,150.00 - $130,425.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
