This role has a hybrid work schedule (2 days per week in the office) and we will consider candidates based in Portsmouth, NH, Boston, MA, Plano, TX and Indianapolis, IN.

 

Job introduction:

 

The Corporate Legal Technology organization is looking to add a Scrum Master II candidate to their team. This person will be a member of two to three development teams and will be responsible for enabling the teams to be more effective through applying the relevant Lean-Agile approach (Scrum, Kanban, XP, etc.). This person will understand how to evolve/improve/expand team practices to fit the specific needs of the teams and organization depending upon the situation/circumstances present. They will coach, mentor, and teach team members, managers, and key stakeholders. They will proactively seek to eliminate or minimize impact of barriers, and address challenges to team delivery. They will partner with Product Owners and other SMs to support backlog and team health, in addition to cross-team communication within a scaled environment.

Uses a pragmatic approach to guide the team by seeking to understand what they want to achieve and helping them become more effective in an Agile context, especially in terms of the Legal Technology organizationComfortable experimenting with a variety of approaches based on need & fit. Promotes the use of/experimentation with quality/engineering practices (BDD, TDD, Pairing, CI/CD, etc.). Effective facilitation skills at the team level. Remains neutral, applies conflict management & establishes trust. Is comfortable having difficult conversations and actively coaches the team and people leaders on improving communication skills. Possesses advanced understanding of Lean-Agile metrics (health, value, flow and quality) to help teams continually improve. Assesses the Agile/Scrum maturity of the team & coaches the team to higher levels of maturity. Increases team knowledge of Agile/Lean topics helping them understand “why” practices work not just “how”. Tailors similar teachings to the stakeholders to provide them with context on how the teams deliver value.Observes & provides consistent, impactful feedback for team collaboration and effectiveness in delivering value to their users. Understands the impact and supports the vision for change within the Legal Technology organization.Partners with the Product Owners to encourage the team to understand the value of what they are building while creating space and time for Innovation and personal developmentActively seeks coaching & mentoring from more experienced SMs & coaches on Lean-Agile techniques and mindset and guides them on their personal change and growth journey. Stays current with Agility industry trends & explores other perspectives by reading & contributing to blogs, consuming external media, & actively participating in internal/external Agile/Scrum or related events. Acts as a catalyst to the SM community & in the organization by sharing ideas. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (business, computer science, humanities, etc).Minimum 5+ years of Scrum Master experience.Beginner/1st level Scrum certification required.Knowledge/training equivalent to advanced/2nd level certifications from a reputable Lean-Agile organization a plus but not required (PSM II, ICAgile Professional, Agile Team Facilitation (ICP-ATF), ICAgile Professional, Agile Coaching (ICP-ACC).Experience being on multiple Agile teams in a variety of different contexts.Experience working in a scaled agile framework preferred.Thorough knowledge of business functions and extensive understanding of business operations, strategies and objectives.Track record of continued and recent education in Lean-Agile including training, conferences, user groups, cohorts, self-study, etc.
