In addition to instruction in the classroom, field, and laboratory, our students have opportunities for experiential learning on and off campus, including a growing emphasis on international experiences through short- and long-term study abroad. Students also have access to a robust program of applied research and outreach hosted by the New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station laboratories, farms, business incubators, and marine stations throughout the state. Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Scuba Assistant for the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences The Department of Coastal Sciences is seeking multiple “Scuba Assistants” to assist in the undergraduate course, Basic Scuba Diving (11:628:230) taught in the Spring 2025 & Fall 2025 semesters.
Among the key duties of this position are the following: Assists with scuba courses & activities according to PADI standards for certified assistants & safe diving practices. Assists with preparing scuba equipment for classes, including filling scuba cylinders & equipment field repairs. Assists with open water certification dives at off-site program locations. Prepares & organizes the dive lockers; distributes and collects equipment from students. Drives vehicles to transport students & scuba equipment to/from program locations. Performs other duties as assigned. Position Status Part Time Hours Per Week 19.5 or less Daily Work Shift Day Work Arrangement FLSA Nonexempt Position Salary $15.50-$18/hour Payroll Designation PeopleSoft Terms of Appointment Temporary Staff Appointment - Hourly
