We offer 21 undergraduate majors, including plant and animal sciences, microbiology, biotechnology, agriculture and food systems, landscape architecture, food and nutritional sciences, ecology and evolution, marine science and oceanography, environmental sciences and meteorology, human ecology, entomology, and environmental economics.
In addition to instruction in the classroom, field, and laboratory, our students have opportunities for experiential learning on and off campus, including a growing emphasis on international experiences through short- and long-term study abroad. Students also have access to a robust program of applied research and outreach hosted by the New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station laboratories, farms, business incubators, and marine stations throughout the state. Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Scuba Instructor for the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences. The Department of Marine & Coastal Sciences is seeking 2 part-time “Scuba Instructors” to assist the undergraduate course, Scientific Diving II (11:628:345), taught in Fall, and Scientific Diving I (11:628:345) taught in the Spring.
Among the key duties of this position are the following: Teaches & assists with scuba program courses & activities according to PADI standards & safe diving practices. Assists with preparing scuba equipment for classes & minor maintenance. Conducts & assists with open water certification dives at off-site program locations. Works cooperatively with dive masters, instructors & scuba volunteers. Tags equipment for repair and inspects safety equipment. Performs other duties as assigned. Position Status Part Time Hours Per Week 19.5 hours or less Daily Work Shift Day Work Arrangement FLSA Nonexempt Position Salary $18-$20/hour Payroll Designation PeopleSoft Terms of Appointment Temporary Staff Appointment - Hourly
