Collins Aerospace is currently seeking highly motivated student engineers for our Supplier Designed Equipment (SDE) Project Engineering department, located in Windsor Locks, Connecticut.

The SDE team is focused on leading engineering projects for engine control systems products designed and manufactured by our supplier base.  We are engaged at all levels with our internal and external customers during every stage of the aerospace product life cycle (development, entry into service, in-service support).  We are a highly collaborative team that interfaces with multiple engineering disciplines, as well as business-related functions. In this role you can expect to gain experience supporting a variety of mechanical and electrical products that include pneumatic valves, hydraulic valves/actuators, heat exchangers, sensors and wiring harnesses on large commercial, military and business aviation engines programs.

Immerse yourself in a full-time, Monday-Friday co-op session, that will run June-December 2025 (including the Fall semester; it is expected students will take a semester off from coursework to fully engage with this working mentorship opportunity.

What You Will Do:

Work with experienced engineers to perform system and component requirements reviews and compliance assessments for complex engine control system components

Support experienced project engineers with engine control system component investigations using relentless root cause and corrective action process

Support or manage project tasks related engineering change execution and production incorporation

Execute development tasks aligned with Collins engineering standard work.

Interface with component suppliers and other members of the integrated product development team (chief engineers, systems engineers, program management, etc.)

What You Will Learn:

Critical features and operation of turbine engine control systems

Detailed knowledge on the design/development/sustainment phases of highly engineered aerospace products

Root cause and corrective action process and techniques

How to manage/execute project tasks in a fast-paced environment

Qualifications You Must Have:

Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.

U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract

Qualifications We Prefer:

Good verbal and written communication skills

Ability to work both independently and within a team environment

Proficiency with Microsoft products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products. Must be a commutable distance to Windsor Locks, CT to work an onsite schedule. This position may be eligible for relocation.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
