The University of Maine at Farmington (UMF) is seeking non-residential Academic Instructors to be part of the 2025 UMF Summer Upward Bound (UB) Program (https://www.umf.maine.edu/upwardbound/summer-program/) . This is an exciting opportunity to engage with high school students in innovative and creative ways. Instructors will teach in key subject areas, including math, science, English, world languages, and career and college development. The role offers the chance to not only advance students’ academic knowledge but also foster skills that support long-term success—encouraging new learning approaches, perseverance, and the development of habits that will serve them in higher education and beyond. Compensation: This part-time, seasonal position offers a weekly salary of $574.00. The typical schedule is Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with one day per week extending to 2:00 p.m. for a staff meeting. This position is grant-funded and contingent upon the continued availability of external funding. Summer program dates: June 17, 2025, through July 25, 2025. Position Responsibilities: + Coordinates pretests for placement as needed. + Develops course curricula and daily lesson plans. + Delivers daily lessons to students in multiple course sections via project-based learning, cooperative learning, lectures, group discussions, and workshops. + Provides timely feedback to students on their work via written comments and individual meetings. + Adapts curriculum to meet the needs of all students who need individualized instruction. + Writes comprehensive evaluations of each student to provide specific feedback about course performance and academic strengths and weaknesses. + Participates in staff meetings to discuss program progress, planning, and student concerns.
