The State Reclamation and Mosquito Control Board oversees mosquito control in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts including 11 regional programs. It establishes administrative and technical policies, guidelines, and best management practices to ensure mosquito control programs are safe and effective.

The State Reclamation and Mosquito Control Board seeks applicants for a Seasonal Field Technician to perform the following duties:

The East Middlesex Mosquito Control Project (EMMCP) is an agency of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts that provides mosquito control services to 27 cities and towns. EMMCP is seeking applicants for seasonal contract positions from May 5, 2025 - August 21, 2025. You will report to work at 11 Sun St., Waltham, MA.

If you enjoy working outside and getting exercise, this job is for you. While following maps, you will navigate streets via bicycle, walking, or a work vehicle, and apply a larval control product to the catch basins to reduce the mosquito population.Must work well independently, as well as with others. We expect everyone to be respectful to one another, have patience, and be flexible. Taking a week or two off during the summer is acceptable, although it will be unpaid.

Responsibilities include:

Over 95% of the job involves applying larval control products to catch basins and marking each catch basin grate with spray paint. Transportation along assigned routes will include riding bicycles, walking, and driving a work vehicle.Seasonal Field Technicians may also be assigned additional duties and responsibilities as determined by the Superintendent, the Operations Manager, or their designee.

As a condition of employment, applicants must pass the Catch Basin Applicator Permit exam within 30 days of the hire date. Upon passing the exam, the employee will be reimbursed for the exam fee.

Applicants must be a minimum of 18 years old and possess a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.

Period of Employment: May 5, 2025 – August 21, 2025Work Week: 4 day, 40 hours per week, Monday – Thursday6 positions availableHolidays are unpaid days off4.61544 sick hours earned per 40 hours worked

- $21.00 per hour
