The Food Services Technician is responsible for the application of established standards, policies and procedures to ensure the delivery of safe and cost effective food and beverages. This position is seasonal (April-October). Seasonal, 30-40 hours per week. Some weeks in spring and fall season will be less hours due to fewer programs. $21.37/hour.
The kitchen staff at Bryant Pond 4-H Camp Center works closely with the directors to ensure the dietary needs of everyone at camp are met. The Food Services Supervisor will work with the camp director in ordering food, creating schedules, and making sure the kitchen is kept at Maine State health code standards. Our Food Service Technicians will prepare 2-3 meals per day for up to 150 people. This position is part-time seasonal (April- Mid November) and is located in Bryant Pond, Maine.
Responsibilities:
+ Prepare and cook nutritious and wholesome foods for large groups, emphasizing whole foods and fresh produce.
+ Have a clear understanding of food allergies/dietary restrictions and how to safely accommodate them
+ Operate commercial kitchen equipment safely, including mixers, slicers, dishwashers, and stoves, and identify when equipment or knives require repair or specialized cleaning.
+ Cleaning, sanitizing and maintaining a clean, sanitary kitchen and dining facilities, including collecting, rinsing, and washing cookware, operating dish cleaning equipment, and using custodial tools for general upkeep.
+ Immediately refrigerate any remaining food after each service
+ Maintain a clean, sanitary kitchen environment in full compliance with State of Maine standards and regulations.
+ Stocking food ingredients and paper products: identifying ordering needs.
+ Collaborate effectively with other cooks and kitchen assistants to ensure smooth food service operations.
+ Assist directors with menu planning, food ordering, and meal preparation.
+ Incorporate fresh produce from the camp’s garden into meal plans.
+ Adhere to established protocols for the camp’s composting program.

Who We Are:
The 4-H Camp and Learning Centers provide environmentally focused programs for Maine youth and families in Bryant Pond. Our mission is to teach youth and adults to be effective and caring citizens of the earth through affordable environmental education and fun nature-based experiences. The camp is located in Bryant Pond, Maine is nestled on the shores of Lake Christopher with 160 acres of forest and mountain trails leading to remote campsites, streams, ponds, wetlands, and a mountain summit. A short drive from the camp you can be in the beautiful White Mountain National Forest and the Rangeley Lakes area. The local area provides many opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts including rock climbing, backpacking, hunting and fishing, canoeing, and a large winter ski and sport industry. Portland, Maine’s largest city is only an hour’s drive with live music, great food, and shopping.
Qualifications:
Required:
+ High School Diploma OR equivalent (G.E.D.) AND some culinary training.
+ Complete health screening and appropriate background checks
+ Servsafe food handler certification
Preferred:
+ High safety and sanitation standards
+ Training and/or experience in sanitation, food preparation and protection, hygiene, and record-keeping
+ Attention to detail
+ Ability to work a demanding schedule
+ Flexible, team player
+ Training and/or experience in sanitation, food preparation and protection, hygiene, and record-keeping
