Candidates must follow the instructions in the "To Apply" section. Positions in this class are exempt from the screening and referral requirements of the Iowa Department of Administrative Services - Human Resources Enterprise. The Iowa Veterans Home is looking to hire seasonal help to maintain landscaping and grounds related work. This temporary position will work weekdays 7:00 A.M. through 3:30 P.M. Hours will vary depending on weather conditions. This is a non-merit position and the hourly wage will be $14.97-$20.35. The responsibilities of this position include but not limited to: · Provide maintenance of landscaping and lawns, line trimming around structures and edging sidewalks, and preventative maintenance of areas around hardened surfaces to minimize sinkholes and wash outs. Perform maintenance of flower and garden beds including pruning, trimming and weeding. · Performing grounds maintenance under general direction, including the operation of equipment necessary for mowing, the removal of brush, assist with the removal of trees, and disposal of tree debris. Assess with other grounds staff on an ongoing basis to pick up papers, dead animals, and other trash and debris. ·Assist with the cemetery preparation for site burials.
