NB Private Equity

NB Private Equity is one of the largest private equity managers in the world with over $100 billion in AUM. Summer Associates will work as part of NB’s Global Secondary Private Equity team, which manages over $17 billion of investor commitments.  With a flexible, global investment mandate, the team can invest across a wide range of asset classes, geographies, and industries. The team’s transaction focus includes complex GP-led secondary transactions (e.g. continuation funds, fund restructurings, preferred equity financing and other bespoke structured transactions), traditional LP interest acquisitions, and other direct investments arising from special situations.  This is a fast-growing platform that has significant capital to invest.  The secondary team is currently investing out of their fifth flagship fund, which held a successful final close in 2022 at $4.9 billion, raising nearly double the size of its predecessor fund, and their second GP-led secondary fund.

Responsibilities

The role is based in New York and offers an exciting opportunity to be part of NB’s fast growing secondary private equity platform. Our culture fosters an entrepreneurial environment and all junior/mid-level members have constant interaction with senior leadership.  As part of a deal team, the Summer Associate will gain a broad experience and contribute to every aspect of our investment cycle. Key responsibilities include:

Screening and conducting due diligence on secondary private equity investment opportunitiesPerforming in-depth research and financial analysis on companies and assets from various stages, sectors, and geographiesPreparation of due diligence materials, screening and investment committee memosInteracting with external parties, including private equity sponsors, industry experts and investment bankers, as well as with other areas of the firm internally, to enhance due diligence insights and identify new opportunitiesMonitoring and conducting analysis on the firm’s existing investments

Qualified candidates will have:

Targeting current MBA students graduating in Winter 2025 or Summer 2026Excellent academic credentials and GPAAt least 4 years of professional experience in top-tier investment banking and/or private equity. Buyside experience strongly preferred.Strong judgment, critical thinking and written skills; ability to articulate and present ideas effectively both orally and in written formShow initiative and creativity in approach to problem solving; demonstrated experience in conducting research and interacting with others to develop solutionsAbility to multi-task with a fine-tuned attention to detailTeam-player attitude and a desire to work on a wide range of projects

Compensation Details

The salary range for this role is $180,000-$180,000. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in New York City. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs. This job is also eligible for a discretionary bonus. We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, 401(k), life insurance and other benefits to eligible employees.
