Secondary Marketing Analyst

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Secondary Marketing Analyst to join our team. This role focuses on managing and optimizing our mortgage pipeline, hedging strategies, pricing models, and risk management activities. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and technical skills, a deep understanding of the mortgage capital markets, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.  This position is an in-office role based at our Plano, TX office.  We are seeking candidates who are available to work on-site to contribute to our team’s success in this setting.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Leverage knowledge and skills to manage the loan production pipeline and associated reports. Assist with hedging of the pipeline and risk mitigation strategies. Monitor, manage, and implement updates related to agency, regulatory, and investor requirements. Review loan pipelines, ensuring compliance with investor guidelines. Analyze and forecast performance metrics to support strategic business decisions. Develop and maintain pricing models and other financial models. Analyze large datasets, performing analysis to assess market trends, portfolio performance, and hedging strategies for mortgage assets and risk management. Conduct market research to identify trends, risks, and opportunities in the mortgage and capital markets. Work with leadership to support initiatives related to pricing and investor requirements. Summarize and present financial outcomes and strategies to management. Prepare detailed reports on trading performance, market analysis, and risk metrics. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align hedging strategies with pipeline characteristics. Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and company policies. Maintain strong relationships with counterparties, brokers, and investors to facilitate efficient trade execution. Implement and monitor hedging strategies to mitigate risks from interest rate fluctuations. Support the development of efficient analysis methods and provide clear communication on complex topics. Assist in post-closing operations by ensuring loans are accurately booked, shipped, and purchased in a timely and efficient manner. Identify loan defects and collaborate with department heads to address compliance issues and ensure alignment with sale requirements. Review and maintain accurate loan pricing while monitoring Lock Desk operations. Perform other duties as assigned to support organizational goals and objectives.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS, CAPABILITIES & SKILLS

Proven experience in secondary marketing, MBS trading, or similar roles, with a focus on hedging and risk management. In-depth understanding of mortgage lending processes, including origination, pricing, and secondary markets. Familiarity with mortgage-related regulatory and compliance standards and credit policy. Proven experience in working with multiple investor relationships, including both servicing-released and servicing retained strategies. Experience working with Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, GNMA, and other private investors. Strong knowledge of mortgage products, secondary mortgage markets, and financial instruments. Expertise in financial modeling, pricing strategies, and quantitative analysis. Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail. Strong organizational and time management abilities to handle multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication skills for collaboration and presenting complex analyses to various audiences.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field. Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a similar role. Proficiency in tools such as Microsoft Excel, SQL a plus. Optimal Blue experience preferred
