Reports to the Nurse Manager, Department Head or designate. This position functions as the first-line supervisor for the unit/program. The position has the on-going responsibility to coordinate the day-to-day patient care activities and the use of staff, equipment and resources for the unit/program. This position also plans and provides direct nursing care to patients/residents in the hospital or in the community in accordance with the unit/program philosophy, competency guidelines, policies and the CRNBC Standards for Nursing Practice in British Columbia.
QUALIFICATIONS:Education, Training And ExperienceGraduation from a recognized nursing program. Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant. Three (3) years recent clinical nursing experience, including supervisory experience, in a relevant clinical setting.

See below job description. TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Assists Radiologists and other physicians by performing duties requiring the application of professional nursing knowledge and skills, such as injection of patients with contrast media and/or drugs, and urinary catheterizing of patients, for patients undergoing various and specialized medical imaging procedures in modalities which may include general X-ray/fluoroscopy, Computed Tomography, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, and/or Magnetic Resonance Imaging. 2. Assesses, monitors and provides nursing care to Medical Imaging patients as required, including acting as a patient advocate and promoting good public relations by effectively communicating with patients, families and visitors and other members of the multidisciplinary team. Acts as the scrub nurse while performing radiological, diagnostic, and interventional procedures, and acts as the circulating nurse by performing direct nursing care as appropriate to ensure the comfort and safety of patients undergoing medical/diagnostic imaging procedures. 3. Fulfils the responsibilities of and performs basic and critical care nursing skills as an experienced self-directed medical/diagnostic imaging nurse in accordance with hospital policies, procedures and standards, including delegated medical functions, giving prescribed medications, therapeutic treatments and following through on physician's orders. 4. Documents care given and observations made, reporting significant changes in patient condition appropriately. 5. Attends and participates in in-service, orientation and training sessions, including demonstrating correct basic techniques for Medical Imaging staff, such as for working in sterile and/or isolation conditions and handling patients with fractures and intravenous tubes. 6. Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement by conducting audits, completing appropriate reports, providing feedback and following up on risk factors and making recommendations for improvement to applicable policies, objectives and standards. 7. Ensures a safe environment for patients and staff by observing universal precautions and infection control procedures, removing obvious hazards, reporting faulty equipment, and adhering to and enforcing rules regarding safety. 8. Maintains an emergency crash cart by ensuring adequate and current supplies are on the cart. Completes requisitions for additional supplies, as required, in accordance with established procedures. 9. Consults with the Leader or designate, regarding nursing issues and participates in the development of team and department statement of mission, philosophy, policies, objectives and standards. 10. Demonstrates personal initiative in maintaining professional nursing knowledge and skills by participating in relevant educational activities such as conferences, seminars, as required. 11. Performs other related duties as required. QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Training And Experience Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant. Post-basic education in critical care nursing, such as Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and two (2) years recent, related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Level C, Basic Life Support Certificate. Skills And Abilities Apply nursing process as required and described in BC College of Nurses and Midwives Standards of Nursing Practice.
