Reporting to the Manager, the Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day operations of unit/service/program. Providing leadership to the multi-disciplinary team, this position coordinates and facilitates daily clinical activities, ensuring effective use of resources reflective of the MHAS vision and mission. Acts as the communication liaison between members of the multi-disciplinary team, as well as other health care professionals and administrative personnel outside the unit/service. Supervises and evaluates staff, provides leadership and functions as a role model and coach to assist staff with professional development and achievement of unit/service/program goals. Takes a long-range view of operations and patient/client/resident service delivery and follows through on issues that impact on the overall quality of patient/client/resident care provided. Develops policies and procedures/ standards for operationalizing patient/client/resident care at unit/service level. Contributes to the monitoring and development of the operating plan. Provides leadership within the unit/service for quality and risk management activities. Engages in program and community development when appropriate and as directed.
QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Training And ExperienceBachelor's degree in nursing or related health discipline plus five to seven years' recent related experience, including 2 years relevant clinical experience, and 2 years supervisory experience. Master's degree preferred. Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant or a practicing RPN registrant. Valid BC Drivers license.

Additional information for applicants This coordinator role is based in south Island at a Victoria location TBD. The role is onsite; not a work remote or work from home opportunity (the virtual clinic will operate from a physical location with the team located onsite). This position will be responsible for multi disciplinary community and acute teams including the Access Central and Virtual Substance Use Care Programs, Rapid Access Addiction Clinic, and the Addiction Medicine Consult Service. Successful applicants will have substantial clinical knowledge of substance use care and treatment and concurrent care; and work from a harm reduction, trauma informed, recovery oriented, and person focused lens. Access Central and Virtual Substance Use programs are newly developing – some project experience, change management, and quality improvement skills will be helpful in this role. This nursing coordinator will be working closely with the program manager, medical leadership, physician and NP partners, clinical nurse educator, and nurse leads to ensure timely, accessible, quality services to patients.
