This is a K-12 school for Exceptional Children: **This role involves working with students who have severe emotional and behavioral needs. Students may exhibit behaviors such as elopement, aggression, outbursts, or other physical expressions. ** 

 

University Instructors (UI) is seeking dynamic face-to-face Content-Focused Co-Teacher. The Content-Focused Co-Teacher works collaboratively with Social Studies Teachers to provide specialized instruction and support to middle school or high school social studies students. The Co-Teacher will help implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), utilize effective behavioral intervention strategies, and ensure a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Responsibilities

Role and Responsibilities  

In this role, you will:  

Demonstrate sound knowledge and understanding grades 6-12 subject matter and the pedagogy required by consistently engaging students in learning experiences that enable them to acquire complex knowledge and skills in the secondary social studies.Design well-structured lessons with challenging, measurable objectives and appropriate student engagement strategies, pacing, sequence, activities, materials, resources, technologies, and grouping.  Possess knowledge of the developmental levels of students in the classroom and the different ways these students learn by providing differentiated learning experiences that enable all students to progress toward meeting intended outcomes.  Design units of instruction with measurable outcomes and challenging tasks requiring higher-order thinking skills that enable students to learn the knowledge and skills defined in state standards/local curricula.  Engage with students in a friendly and professional manner.  Consistently use instructional practices that are likely to motivate and engage most students.  Consistently and effectively collaborate with colleagues in such work as developing standards-based units, examining student work, analyzing student performance, and planning appropriate interventions.   Participate in relevant professional development and professional learning communities.   Submit records related to attendance, student progress, and other UI program requirements on time.  Document student grades, evaluations, and progress as district mandates.  Be responsible for enforcing the school-wide student code of conduct to create an environment safe and conducive to learning at all times  Build rapport with students, families, community, and school staff  Model professional and ethical standards when interacting with students, parents, peers, and the community.  Responsible for additional general duties as indicated by the Principal and directives of the Superintendent.  Complete other duties as assigned.

Education and Work Experience 

As a successful applicant, you must have a passion for helping students succeed. Additionally, you will need to have the following: 

At least three-five years of experience providing secondary social studies instruction in a classroomHold a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university as demonstrated by transcripts  Be local to the area  Compensation

$30-$35/hour
