RESPONSIBILITIES: + Implementing NYS World Language and ACTFL standards + Collaborating with colleagues on curricula and lesson plans + Developing lesson plans and curricula based on the needs of individual learners + Providing conversational opportunities where pronunciation and important words and phrases are taught + Teaching writing and composition + Scheduling and preparing students for oral and written examinations + Monitoring students’ progress by writing reports and grading assessments + Organizing feedback sessions with students and their parents if applicable + Providing suggestions for further learning and scheduling intervention sessions with struggling students + Teaching students about culture, which may include festivals, traditional food and dress, and social conventions + Organizing events where students can showcase their language skills Job Qualifications REQUIREMENTS: + Must possess or be eligible for New York State Certification in American Sign Language (ASL) COMMENTS: Must be a creative and passionate instructional leader who possesses the ability to motivate students to strive for academic excellence.
