Job Description
The Iowa Veterans Home is now accepting applications for a full timeSecretary 1for Resident Admissions. Applicant will provide clerical/secretarial support and provide timely, professional and courteous service to customers.
Duties include but are not limited to:
+ Filing all documents in resident administrative files in a timely and accurate manner
+ Responsible for daily processing and distribution of all US mail and interoffice mailings delivered for the Admissions and Resident Finance offices
+ Generate and send out memos and letters on behalf of Admissions and Resident Finance
+ Order and inventory all supplies as requested
+ Process requests for service updates pertaining to resident telephones and cable vision

Minimum Qualification Requirements
Experience equal to one year of full-time clerical or closely related work;
OR
post high school course work in an accredited secretarial, business, or closely related curriculum may be substituted for the required experience on a month-for-month basis;
OR
completion of thirty (30) semester (or equivalent) hours of undergraduate college level course work may be substituted for the one year of required experience;
OR
certification from the State of Iowa Administrative Assistant Certificate Program will substitute for six months of the required experience;
OR
employees withcurrentcontinuous experience in the state executive branch that includes permanent status as a Typist–Advanced.
