Summary You will serve as a SECRETARY (OA) of NAVAL SUPPORT ACTIVITY BETHESDA. Responsibilities You will convey written information in a clear, concise, organized, and convincing manner for the intended audience, using correct English grammar, punctuation, and spelling. You will demonstrate ability to clearly and effectively articulate, present, and promote varied ideas and issues (to include sensitive or controversial topics) before a wide range of audiences. You will perform work such as preparing, receiving, reviewing, and verifying documents, maintaining office records; locating and compiling data or information from files; compiling information for reports. You will keep a calendar and informing others of deadlines and other important dates, and similar clerical support work within an organization. You will understand and interpret technical material, rules, regulations, and instructions as it applies to specific situations. You will have knowledge of office automation hardware and software systems combined with the typing skills of a fully qualified typist to use computers or related data processing technology to perform routine clerical work. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-06) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Receiving phone calls, greeting visitors, and responding to routine requests for information; 2) Prioritizing requests for information and status inquiries to ensure office goals are met; 3) Maintaining an office calendar, scheduling appointments, and arranging meetings for executives and superiors while avoiding conflicts; 4) Preparing correspondence using correct grammar, spelling, capitalization, format, and punctuation in compliance with established procedures and regulations; and 5) Utilizing appropriate social etiquette and protocol when interacting with high-ranking officials and VIPs. This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Your response to the typing skill question on the Occupational Questionnaire will be used in your qualification determination. Education Additional Information This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. This position is eligible for part time, substantial or ad-hoc telework at the discretion of management. Certain incentives (such as Recruitment, Relocation or Student Loan Repayment) may be authorized to eligible selectees.
