The Department of Radiology at New Jersey Medical School at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, Newark is recruiting a full time Nuclear Medicine physician who will also serve as Division Chief. We are seeking a candidate preferable at the Associate Professor level or higher to join our dynamic and evolving department, however Assistant Professor level candidates will also be considered. The Department of Radiology has 28 clinical and research faculty members, and 18 diagnostic radiology residents who provide patient care for all the major divisions of contemporary imaging. The department is responsible for all aspects of nuclear medicine at University Hospital, a tertiary care center as well as the Rutgers Advance Practice Imaging, an outpatient PET-CT facility on campus. The department all provides coverage at a satellite facility, East Orange General Hospital.
The successful applicant will have dedicated training in nuclear medicine including current certification in nuclear medicine by the American Board of Nuclear Medicine OR current certification or active participation in the examination process leading to certification in Radiology by the American Board of Radiology or the American Osteopathic Board of Radiology including unsealed byproduct material (radionuclides/radiopharmaceuticals) authorized user status. Prior record demonstrating leadership success is preferable but not required.
Clinical responsibilities will include all aspects of nuclear medicine imaging including interpretation of diagnostic single photon planar, SPECT-CT and PET-CT studies including nuclear cardiology. Responsibilities will also include providing consultation for and performing radioactive therapeutic procedures, including radioiodine therapy for benign and malignant thyroid disease and other radioactive therapies for malignancy.
