**Position Description:**
Coordinates a section in a department that has institutional oversight responsibilities. Responsibilities involve the coordination and supervision of the various functions and aspects of a specific program or departmental project as well as the monitoring of program staff and operational procedures. Work is performed under general supervision with evaluation based on results obtained. May supervise program staff, volunteers and/or students.

**Major/Essential Functions:**
Safety Reporting:
+ Oversees the incident, injury, property damage, vehicle collision reporting and procedures.
+ Provides direction to departmental employees and supervisors regarding required documentation and procedures.
+ Provides leadership with routine safety documents and reports reflecting incidents and injury statistics for the department.
Safety Programs:
+ Coordinates safety training activities (e.g., Safety Briefings, Asbestos Training, etc.) of employees.
+ Maintain and monitor required safety trainings and certifications are kept current (e.g., forklift operator certifications, first aid/CPR training, Respirator Fit Testing, etc.)
+ Coordinates safety-related activities within the department (e.g., Safety Fair, Flu Vaccinations, Respirator Fit, Audiograms) activities to prevent incidents and injuries.
+ Maintain and monitor hazard report database and files as required for adequate corrective action.
+ Works Closely with Occupational Safety Officer to develop and recommend new procedures and approaches to safety based on data from safety reporting.
Emergency Management:
+ Maintains Operations Emergency Action Plan documents and materials.
+ Works closely with Emergency Management, EH&S, and other stakeholders to ensure Operations emergency practices align with University expectations.
Asbestos Compliance/Insulation Abatement Shop:
+ Maintain and organize asbestos related recordkeeping documents.
+ Track and assist with required individual and University asbestos licenses and certification renewals.
+ Assist with Asbestos Survey Report preparation (TDSHS Asbestos Inspector license required).
