**Responsibilities**
The Section Leader directs all the day-to-day activities of the plant consistent with company schedules and policies. The Section Leader will monitor and coordinate effective and efficient communication to the Supervisor, Team Leader, and Operators through proactive, high participation, work team involvement, and is responsible for the administration of policies and practices of the Company. In addition, the Section Leader will implement the Berry Global values and will be a major reason we achieve our vision of being the dominant supplier of value added films in the industry.
Make sure your lines are set up properly. You will be doing the SOS checks on your lines and second checks on other lines until your Operators are experienced enough to do the initial check. At that point you are responsible for the second check on two lines. Yours or others. Work as a team. These get done after job changes as well. If an Operator does the check, you are still responsible for making sure it is set up correct.
Manage your Operators break and lunch time. It is the law that they get at least three 15 minute breaks and one ½ hour lunch period. Same rules apply as we have now. One person (not a temp) can go get lunch for the team but they must clock out and in when they leave and come back. It is paid for and needs to be adjusted by Supervisor.
As a team you are responsible for all die shims and job changes. You will be attacking these as a 3 to 4 person team to improve efficiency and reduce scrap.
If all three Section Leaders are present then it is the Team Leaders responsibility to train with the Operator/Operator Trainee on tasks performed during this time, so that this person is learning new tasks to become a useful member of the team.
It is your responsibility to perform labs, or have labs performed, on your lines. This is done every 4 hours at minimum. Start-up labs are required if your changeover is more than a MO change and after die shims. Team Leader, Supervisor or Operator (if properly trained) can assist if needed.
You are responsible for the lines. If something happens on a line, you need to be there.
You need to assist all Operators/Operator trainees with packing out rolls. During this time you need to do a visual inspection of your film to look for defects (gels/carbon, wrinkles, weave, core alignment, ETC,).
Work on your personal training needs. These are the skills you will need for succession into next level roles. Only those at the highest level within your position will be considered for promotion.
You are responsible for Housekeeping and organization of your lines. They need to be swept every shift and blown out after job changes. Empty boxes removed and packaging area organized. This is where delegation should be incorporated into your skill set. Work together as a team with your Operators to insure these tasks get complete.
At the end of the shift your line needs to be ready to turn over to the next shift. Cores cut, partials removed, job changes planned and staged and all scrap weighed and accounted for towards your shift.
