DESCRIPTION:

Duties: Lead data analysis of mortgage backed securities (MBS), including performing analysis of both prepayment and credit performance, and serving as the team’s subject matter expert. Create a weekly written publication on the fundamental and technical trading performance of MBS. Communicate with clients on emerging MBS market topics. Create monthly performance reports on prepayment, credit, issuers and other complex sets of variable unique to MBS, including loan-to-value, debt-service coverage ratio, FICO, documentation type, and occupancy status. Review analysis on client portfolios assessing rate and credit risks. Work with Sales and Trading to educate clients on bond structure and relative value. Work with internal risk groups and portfolio teams across the investment bank to help model risks, including spread risk, rate risk, and credit risk. Collaborate with the modeling team to calibrate MBS prepayment and credit models to output analytics and risks consistent with the market. Explain any differences between market and model views. This position requires up to 10% domestic and 5% international travel.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum education and experience required: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, or related field of study plus 2 years of experience in the job offered or as Securitized Products Research, Credit Research Analyst, Fixed Income Research, or related occupation. The employer will alternatively accept a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, or related field of study plus 5 years of experience in the job offered or as Securitized Products Research, Credit Research Analyst, Fixed Income Research, or related occupation

Skills Required: Requires experience in the following: C++; Python, including packages; R, including packages; SQL; HTML; XML; Excel , including VBA, automation, graphs, pivots, and tables; Multiple regression testing; PCA; Machine learning models and testing; Demonstrating complex mortgage bond mathematics, mortgage-backed security structuring concepts, simple mortgage credit, and refinancing models to gauge risk in mortgage backed securities; quantitative mathematical modeling; SQL; Intex; 1010data; Mortgage-backed security bond structures, including Jumbo 2.0, non-qualified mortgages, collateralized mortgage obligations, interest-only securities, and principal-only securities; Mortgage-backed security prepayments and credit risks; Option adjusted risk metrics, including option-adjusted spread, option-adjusted duration, and option-adjusted convexity; Corporate credit bond structures; Leveraged loans; Technical writing involving mortgage bond concepts; and Communicating economic concepts to senior stakeholders.

Job Location: 383 Madison Avenue, New York, NY 10179. This position requires up to 10% domestic and 5% international travel.

Full-Time. Salary:  $200,000 - $200,000 per year.
