Security and Network Engineer

 

Position Summary

This position is responsible for Network & Security systems at the corporate office and all remote power plant locations that are in the US. This position works in collaboration with Global Network & Security team.

 

Essential Functions

Design, configure, deploy, and maintain Network and Security infrastructure at Ormat corporate and remote site locations in coordination with Global team Analyze problems, recommend solutions to meet business objectives Actively protect information technology assets and infrastructure from external or internal threats and ensure that the company complies with statutory and regulatory requirements regarding information access, security and privacy Implement firewall solutions to properly secure Company’s data and provide consultation on all new firewall implementations, firewall configuration changes, and projects requiring security operational support Assist the end-user, other IT professionals, and external customers in requesting security variances and implementation of subsequent configuration change requests Recommend best security practices to achieve stated business objectives, advises on risk assumptions for any variances granted, and provides alternatives to achieve desired end results Assist in incident response for any breaches, intrusions, or theft Monitor systems for any anomalies, proper updating, and patching Monitor vendor websites for potential threat alerts and software upgrades

 

Evaluates and performs planning, testing, and implementation of software and hardware upgrades Maintains system documentation and configuration data for regulatory and audit purposes Coach and guide Service Desk and Desk Side Support technicians in their incident response, directing incident first responder actions, and appropriately escalating issues Must possess at any time a valid driver’s license with a driving record acceptable to ORMAT’s auto insurance carrier Must be able to operate a vehicle in a safe manner Must have the ability to travel to other locations up to 50% of the time or more

Education, Experience, and Skills Required

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field or equivalent work experience required Minimum of 6 years’ experience of recent professional experience in network administration and network security protocols, hardware and software Demonstrated experience with network infrastructure design including telephones and video Demonstrated experience with Cisco router and switch configuration Demonstrated experience with one or more of the following firewalls: Checkpoint, PaloAlto, Fortigate. IDS/IPS and Syslog knowledge CISCO Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification preferred Demonstrated experience with VPN management and support Demonstrated experience with Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS), and QoS Demonstrated experience with wireless network configuration Windows Server and Active Directory setup and troubleshooting experience Must have outstanding customer service skills, including passion to serve well, and the patience when working with non-technical users Genius analytical, problem identification, troubleshooting, and creative problem solving abilities Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

 

Physical Requirements

Must be able to work in an office environment This job requires sitting and/or standing for long periods of time with moderate bending, stooping and kneeling The ability to work at a computer and computer monitor for long periods of time and stay alert This position requires sitting 80% of the time and standing and walking 20% of the time Must have the ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds without assistance
