The primary purpose of this position is to process various security related documentation including requests for security investigation and clearances, perform standard and non-standard reviews of security clearance applications. Responsibilities Process applications and issues restricted area badges, contractor badges, identification cards, controlled identification media, temporary passes and vehicle registration to eligible personnel. Serves as the installation subject matter expert for DBIDS and maintains an appropriate level of proficiency. Process request for Personnel Security Investigations (PSI) and performs substantive reviews of security clearance applications. Processes and assist in maintaining Security Information Files (SIFS). Performs fingerprinting for new and updated controlled installation access media. Maintains controlled forms, control logs for identification cards and controlled and restricted area badges for maintenance and destruction of accountable forms in accordance with applicable Air Force instructions. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the Specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Security Clerical and Assistance 0086, Group Coverage Qualification Standard for Clerical and Administrative Support Position located here https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/#url=Group-Standards SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have one (1) year or will have one year within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement at the next lower grade (GS-04), level, pay band (NK-01), or equivalent (pay schedule, pay band, etc). Specialized experience is described as: assisting with ensuring security credential requests are processed accurately and expeditiously; helping with performing quality reviews on the data and information submitted for consistency, completeness, and accuracy within regulatory requirements; assisting with determining appropriate recommendations for unresolved or questionable problems and performs follow-up; helping to process and protect sensitive information ensuring total confidentiality. OR EDUCATION: 4 years above high school OR COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of security processes and procedures and general clerical office functions. Knowledge of personnel security clearances and investigation processes and the procedures, forms, and information required to verify against authorization documents, issue badges, passes, vehicle permits, or other forms of authorization. Knowledge of one or more automated databases associated with a specific security function to recognize, locate, and insert data/information; support office and security operations; and produce a variety of documents and reports. Ability to plan and organize work, follow instructions, and accomplish multiple ongoing projects. Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of individuals, using a high degree of tact and diplomacy PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
