Summary This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will not be accepted through this flyer. Responsibilities You will serve as a member of the entry/control vehicle inspection team which conducts private and commercial vehicle inspections. You will have the ability to retain all persons found to be unauthorized to enter the installation and immediately contact the Security Forces to turn over persons suspected of issues that would be of an incriminating circumstance for question. You may be required to testify on the results of investigations performed and violations observed. You will direct vehicles and pedestrian traffic during emergencies and normal rush hour traffic to ensure that entry control process is running in accordance of established procedures and naval regulations. You will respond to emergency situations to implement security protocol and regulations. You will maintain radio communications with other patrol units or posts while providing continuous security of designated areas or buildings. You will monitor alarm systems to detect, interrupt, and identify criminal activity. You will perform functional checks of all alarm systems to certify proper operation of systems. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications GS-05 Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Screening and/or inspecting personal and commercial vehicles requesting installation access; 2) Controlling personnel access by verifying identification/credentials; 3) Patrolling buildings or perimeters for suspicious activity; and 4) Maintaining desk logs, desk journals, and pass-down logbooks to document security events. GS-04 Your resume must also demonstrate at least 6 months of general and 6 months of specialized experience. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Screening and/or inspecting personal and commercial vehicles requesting installation access; 2) Controlling personnel access by verifying identification/credentials; 3) Patrolling buildings or perimeters for suspicious activity; and 4) Maintaining desk logs, desk journals, and pass-down logbooks to document security events. General experience must demonstrate the following: Experience such as administrative, technical, clerical, military, or other work that involved following written procedures, rules, or regulations in contacts with coworkers, supervisors, or members of the public to provide a service, respond to inquiries, or obtain information. Education GS-04: 2 years above high school OR Successful completion of training in an accredited technical school that covered subjects such as physical security procedures, local laws, or investigative techniques is considered qualifying for specialized experience at the GS-4 level on a month-for-month basis. Additional Information This announcement uses the Defense Industrial Base, Major Range and Test Facilities direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service. This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. Vacancies filled from this announcement may be filled at any grade level listed. If selected below the full performance level, you may be noncompetitively promoted to the next higher grade level after meeting all regulatory requirements, and upon the recommendation of management. Promotion is neither implied nor guaranteed. Must meet the provision of the Lautenberg Amendment. Call back and emergency overtime maybe requirements of this position. Work may includes assignment to train second, third or rotating shifts or weekend and holidays. Required to pass a yearly physical and continue to be physically fit. Required to pass Physical Agility Test. Required to wear a uniform and comply with grooming standards. Physical Demands: The work requires, on a regular and recurring basis, long periods of standing, walking, driving, bending, stooping, reaching and similar activities. Work Environment: Work is performed for the most part is outdoors in the heat, cold, rain, and wind during the hours of daylight and darkness; with work in or under extremely dangerous conditions. The work environment regularly involves high risks with exposure to potentially dangerous situations or unusual environment stress which requires a range of safety and other precautions. The incumbent may also work in areas where certain potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present. These agents may include, but are not limited to fumes, noise, and heat. This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Several vacancies may be filled.
