Summary This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will not be accepted through this flyer. Responsibilities You will perform foot or vehicle patrol of perimeters, roadways, parking, and other high traffic areas to confirm the entry control process is following established procedures and regulations. You will monitor alarm systems to detect, interrupt, and identify criminal activity. You will perform functional checks of alarm systems to certify proper operation of systems. You will interview persons to obtain or verify information related to suspicious persons or activity. You will speak with witnesses or persons involved in accidents to obtain statements. You will apprehend or detain individuals in accordance with regulations or laws. You may serve as a competent witness in a court of law or testify on the results of violations. You will check credentials of personnel or vehicles to control access to base posts, buildings, private property, or restricted areas. You will direct vehicles and pedestrian traffic during periods of emergency or increased traffic. You will respond to rapid changes in conditions of readiness to maintain security. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications GS-04: Your resume must demonstrate at least 6 months of generalized experience following written procedures, rules, or regulations in contact with coworkers, supervisors, or members of the public to provide a service, respond to inquiries, or obtain information. This experience may be technical, administrative, clerical, military, or from other work. GS-05: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:1) Maintaining order and protecting life; 2) Checking for credentials/identification, monitoring CCTV, screening/inspecting personal/vehicles; and 3) Standing at a fixed post, monitoring alarms, and monitoring individuals entering or exiting an establishment/installation. GS-06: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Screening and/or inspecting personal and commercial vehicles requesting installation access; 2) Controlling personnel access by verifying identification/credentials; 3) Patrolling buildings or perimeters for suspicious activity; and 4) Maintaining desk logs, desk journals, and pass-down logbooks to document security events. Important Note: qualifying specialized experience includes work with federal, state, municipal, local, or private protective organizations focused on protecting property from hazards like fire, theft, damage, accidents, or trespass, as well as maintaining order and safeguarding life. This experience should demonstrate knowledge of protective systems and techniques. Acceptable experience also includes service in the Armed Forces or Coast Guard involving regular or intermittent guard duties. Education You may qualify with education in lieu of specialized experience at the following grade levels: GS-04: at least 2 years above high school may be substituted in lieu of general experience. OR Successful completion of training in an accredited technical school that covered subjects such as physical security procedures, local laws, or investigative techniques is considered qualifying for specialized experience at the GS-4 level on a month-for-month basis. *Please note: Transcripts are required to prove these claims and must be attached in the application email with your resume. Equivalent combinations of education and experience are qualifying for grade levels for which both education and experience are acceptable. Additional Information This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Several vacancies may be filled. This announcement uses the Defense Industrial Base, Major Range and Test Facilities direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service. Certain incentives (such as Recruitment, Relocation or Student Loan Repayment) may be authorized to eligible selectees. This position may require working a rotating shift. This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements.
