Responsibilities Dispatches guards or responds when an alarm is activated and notifies supervisor for appropriate action. Guards and controls interior and exterior gates, assure proper identification of all pedestrians or motor traffic, clears visitors, and maintains prescribed records. Searches or detains and arranges for search and interrogation of suspects Recognizes collects, preserves, and marks evidence for use in investigations and prosecution. Detains personnel for proper release to appropriate law enforcement officials. Prepares all necessary paperwork needed to complete an Incident/Complaint Report. Assures proper identification, logs visitors, as necessary inspects packages and vehicles, and maintains surveillance on ingress/egress points. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications To qualify for a Security Guard, your resume and supporting documentation must support: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-05 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Acceptable experience also includes service in the Armed Services or Coast Guard that involved the performance of guard duties on a regular or intermittent basis. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: Working with a Federal, State, municipal, local or private organization that involved the protection of property against such as fire, theft, damage, accident, or trespass. Maintaining order and protecting life. Providing knowledge of protective systems and techniques. Serviced in the Armed Services or Coast Guard that involved the performance of guard duties on a regular or intermittent basis. Maintaining vigilance against acts of sabotage, espionage, violence and infractions of rules, regulations, and federal laws by controlling physical access, processing visitors, monitoring intrusion detection and surveillance systems, patrolling assigned areas, and sitting and standing at assigned posts. Education Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level. Call back and emergency overtime are requirements of this position.) FLSA: Non-Exempt Bargaining Unit: Yes\ Selectee may be required to serve a trial/probationary period. Required to remain physically fit and pass an annual physical. Required to submit to random drug screening tests. Required to wear a uniform and all authorized security equipment. Requires the employee to drive a vehicle, and maintain a valid state driver's license. Proof of license and driving record required. Requires carrying firearms or other weapons authorized for their specific jurisdictions and required to familiarize themselves with authorized weapons periodically and demonstrate skill proficiency in their use.
