Responsibilities You will perform foot or vehicle patrol of perimeters, roadways, parking, and other high traffic areas to confirm the entry control process is following established procedures and regulations. You will monitor alarm systems to detect, interrupt, and identify criminal activity. You will perform functional checks of alarm systems to certify proper operation of systems. You will interview persons to obtain or verify information related to suspicious persons or activity. You will speak with witnesses or persons involved in accidents to obtain statements. You will check credentials of personnel or vehicles to control access to base posts, buildings, private property, or restricted areas. You will direct vehicles and pedestrian traffic during periods of emergency or increased traffic. You will respond to rapid changes in conditions of readiness to maintain security. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Screening and/or inspecting personal and commercial vehicles requesting installation access; 2) Controlling personnel access by verifying identification/credentials; 3) Patrolling buildings or perimeters for suspicious activity; and 4) Maintaining desk logs, desk journals, and pass-down logbooks to document security events. Education Additional Information This announcement uses the Defense Industrial Base, Major Range and Test Facilities direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service. This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Several vacancies may be filled. This position may be subject to rotating shift work to include: call back, overtime, weekends, and holidays. Incumbent is subject to 24-hour recall notification and is required to respond per command policy. May be subject to being interrupted from meals or other work breaks while on duty. Required to wear a uniform and comply with grooming standards in accordance with Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC) directives. This position may require working a rotating shift. This position requires evening and weekend work. Must be able to certify and/or re-certify in the use of all security guard equipment. Required to receive training on the use of oleoresin capsicum (OC) spray (pepper spray) in a controlled training environment, to include the experience of receiving the spray to the facial area. Incumbent must pass all weapons qualifications prior to assigned duties and responsibilities and must pass re-qualifications as required. Incumbent must be able to read, write and speak English. Pass annual medical examination (physical, emotional and mental stability, etc.). Successfully complete/pass required CNIC directed Navy Security Forces Training Course, as well as, reoccurring training requirements.
