Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Security Guard I - Full Time Days 08:00 AM - 04:00 PM Rotating Schedule/Weekends -Security - Securit.

In this role, the successful candidate Long Island Community Hospital serves a diverse population of patients, including those with special needs, at all stages of the life cycle. All Security Guards demonstrates the ability to deal effectively with various age groups in order to provide a safe and secure environment. The unique physical and psychosocial needs of patients relative to age-specific requirements are considered in the provision of security services. Communication skills must be demonstrated through age-specific interactions that enhance customer satisfaction

Job Responsibilities:

1.    Stays highly visible as deterrence to crime.

    Patrols assigned areas of the facility and grounds on foot.
    Verbally confronts/questions patients and visitors not conforming to Hospital rules and regulations and ask them to adhere to them.
    Verbally confronts/questions any unauthorized individuals on Hospital grounds
 

Responds to all calls for security related issues 
 
    Responds to all security incidents and potential security incidents as notified by hospital personnel.
    Takes control of all security incidents and potential security incidents as needed bring them to a safe and rapid conclusion.
    Responds to all ambulance calls to aid the ambulance crew locating the patient and anything needed to safely aid the ambulance crew and their job of getting the patient to the hospital.
    Responds to Dr. Heavy to take charge of crowd control and assist as needed by Nurse Manager/Administrator on duty.
 

Directs and monitors vehicle traffic in and around the hospital to maintain a safe environment.  

    Reviews parking on grounds to notify any vehicle operator when blocking open access or parked illegally.
    Maintains traffic control when needed during emergency situations to allow for emergency vehicles to enter and egress the grounds. ¿           Maintains open area for ambulance parking as needed for patient care services.
 

Directs employees, patients, and visitors to all appropriate areas of the hospital.

    Assists patients with special needs to enter or egress the facility as needed
    Escort’s employees, patients, and visitors to hospital parking lot when requested.
    Directs patients and visitors to waiting areas of the hospital to prevent blocking open areas and hallways.
    Directs employees, patients, and visitors to adhere to SCDOH and other regulatory agencies directives regarding loitering/smoking at facility entrance. 
 

Performs other departmental duties as required.

    Provides additional department job function driver/messenger, as determined by the Security Manager to maintain department operations.
    Approaches new challenges and/or job changes with a positive attitude and communicates it to other department staff.
    Takes initiative and corrects safety issues as discovered to prevent potential injury, and communicates it to Security Manager.
    Performs related general office and record keeping tasks including daily log, incident reports, missing property, and other reports requested by the Security Manager.
 

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a High school diploma or equivalency.
Successful completion of the training course, which satisfies the minimum criteria recommended by the New York State Security Guard Advisory Council.

Continued education through technical seminars, workshops, etc, participation in departmental meetings, in-services, and attention to hospital memorandum.

Good interpersonal skills demonstrable in interactions with staff, administrators, patients and visitors
American Heart Association HeartSaver First AID/CPR certification and de-escalation required.

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Long Island Community Hospital provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $37,584.69 - $50,700.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
