Security Manager

Position Summary Security Manager under general supervision, provides oversight of guidance to security guards assigned to him/her. The Security Supervisor is responsible for providing leadership and direction to security guards and assisting in developing and recommending changes to enhance the security posture of our facility on a daily basis. Core responsibilities include: Providing a high level of customer service to all employees, customers and visitors; ensuring all active security stations are staffed and operating properly; key decision making and ensuring appropriate notifications occur in the event of notable incidents and/or emergencies. The Security Manager assumes the role as a leader and ensures all necessary protocols are observed, conducts inspections of security posts, identifies and rectifies deficiencies, completes various reports and logs, serves as liaison with local services (law enforcement, fire and ambulance) and performs duties as assigned. Is a member of the Environment of Care Committee. Minimum Qualifications Education High school diploma or equivalent required. Prior law enforcement, security, military and/or training required. Credentials BLS required.  Completion of CPI training required. Physical Demands Stand and/or walk constant. Lift 50 pounds floor to waist occasionally. Climb ladder and/or 26 steps occasionally. Bend frequently. Eye-hand coordination within normal limits. Essential Functions The Security Manager under general supervision, provides leadership, direction, coaching, and oversight to security staff. Ability to observe and correct unsafe conditions before a problem arises. Knowledge of hospital safety and security policies and procedures, necessary protocols are observed. Tests levels of security on a regular basis to ensure adequate security is being maintained. Identifies and rectifies any deficiencies. Manages department in accordance with approved operating margin and other key financial and performance indicators. Conducts training, development, and performance appraisals for security staff. Notes observed operational or maintenance discrepancies and communicates information to maintenance staff for correction. This includes parking lot lights, exterior building lights, and other safety related hazards. Demonstrates safety and competent use of equipment. Demonstrates proper use of software applications to carry out duties. Ability to work with intoxicated, hostile or uncooperative persons required. Responds to Codes, Gray, Blue, Red, Yellow, and Active Shooter and other security incidents when requested.
