ResponsibilitiesResponsible for maintaining a secure environment for all associates and residents within the building and on the community grounds by overseeing the security guard staff.
Coordinates staffing schedules.Initiates all in house training and safety programs as it relates to the security department. Oversees security guard cross-training programReviews all daily logs and initiates follow-up procedures.Hires, trains, disciplines, and terminates security guards in accordance with company policy. Conducts performance evaluations.Maintains familiarity with and monitors all emergency and safety equipment including security cameras, phones, and life safety systems.Secures all areas of the building, checking for open doors and any unusual activity.Conducts regularly scheduled rounds in and around the building.Responds appropriately to emergencies by calling or contacting appropriate internal and external parties, according to established protocol. Assists with disaster management efforts and activities during evacuations (i.e. fires, hurricanes, etc.). Works with concierge during emergencies, as needed.Informs supervisor of any resident issues or concerns.Answers the phone promptly. Responds to questions, directs calls or takes messages as appropriate.Strives to maintain a safe working environment through the prevention of accidents, the preservation of equipment, and the achievement of safe working practices.Interacts with residents and guests in a friendly and courteous manner, providing assistance and directions as requested.

QualificationsEducation and Experience
High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) required; a minimum of five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certifications, Licenses, and Other Special Requirements
Fire Safety and Basic CPR/First Aid training. For positions that require travel between locations or the transportation of residents, associate must have a valid driver’s license.

Applies existing guidelines and procedures to make varied decisions within a department. Uses sound judgment and experience to solve moderately complex problems based on precedent, example, reasonableness or a combination of these.
